What Stood Out

1. Highgate Senior Living

Highgate's 4.8-star Google rating across 80 reviews is the highest of any assisted living facility in Yakima County.² The county average is 4.24 stars. Every review posted in the past year gave 5 stars.³ That volume and consistency is what puts Highgate at #1.

The inspection record backs it up. DSHS records show two scored inspections since March 2024.⁴ The more notable one flagged care planning gaps for 5 of 7 sampled residents -- incomplete assessments, missing behavioral intervention plans, and delayed physician notifications.⁵ A serious finding. But the facility corrected everything within seven weeks and passed follow-up with zero remaining deficiencies.⁵ The more recent September 2025 fire safety inspection came back clean.⁴ That pattern -- problem identified, problem fixed quickly -- is exactly what the response score is designed to capture.

Highgate is also within a quarter mile of both a pharmacy and a grocery store, and operates as a single, locally owned facility rather than part of a chain.⁶⁷

2. Fieldstone OrchardWest

Fieldstone OrchardWest earns the #2 spot with a 4.6-star Google rating and strong location access.² It's a quarter mile from a hospital and under half a mile from the nearest pharmacy.⁶ The reviews lean heavily toward long-term family members. One wrote that their parents had lived there for over three years and described it as a place where residents are "safe and well taken care of daily."⁸

OrchardWest is part of a four-facility portfolio under the same operator.⁷ The group's median quality score of 75 across all four locations suggests consistent management rather than one standout property.

3. The Chesterley

The Chesterley's recent review trend is the strongest in the top five. Its 4.4-star Google rating comes from 20 reviewers, and the three most recent posts -- all within the last two years -- are unanimous 5-star ratings.² One came from a registered nurse who opened with, "As an RN with years of experience, I felt the need to review this place," before going on to describe the care her mother received.⁹ When healthcare professionals go out of their way to leave feedback, that's a data point worth flagging.

It also sits closer to a hospital than any other top-10 facility -- under a tenth of a mile -- with a pharmacy about half a mile away.⁶

The Chesterley and the #5-ranked Cascades of Chesterley share the same campus and operator, both running 96 beds under a two-facility group with a median quality score of 76.⁷¹⁰

4. Fieldstone Memory Care

Fieldstone Memory Care is the specialized sibling to #2-ranked OrchardWest, purpose-built for memory care with 58 beds. At 4.3 stars across 29 Google reviews, it's above the county average but shows a wider spread than its peers -- from detailed 5-star accounts praising attentive care to a longer 1-star review describing a difficult family experience.²¹¹ That kind of range is common in memory care, where patient complexity and family expectations vary more than in general assisted living.

Location is a strength. The facility is a quarter mile from a hospital, under half a mile from both a pharmacy and a grocery store, and half a mile from a park.⁶ The property's $11.76 million assessed value -- nearly three times the county median -- reflects the specialized build-out that memory care requires.¹² Like OrchardWest, it's managed by the same four-facility operator group.⁷

5. Cascades of Chesterley

Cascades rounds out the top five as the campus partner to The Chesterley (#3). Its 4.4-star Google rating matches its neighbor, and both share the same operator.²⁷

What separates them by a single rank: The Chesterley picked up three fresh 5-star reviews in the last two years, giving it a small edge in review recency. Cascades also sits slightly farther from the nearest pharmacy -- half a mile versus a third of a mile -- which nudges the location profile lower.⁶
