Reviews for Wesley Homes Des Moines LLC
Excellent Staff, Disappointing Dining
Wesley Des Moines features consistently praised staff described as friendly, caring, and responsive, along with beautiful new facilities, extensive amenities (pool, theater, library, fitness), and strong maintenance. However, residents repeatedly criticize the dining room food as bland, repetitive, and underwhelming given the high cost ($8,800/month mentioned), with chronic understaffing in the dining room. Several reviewers note the resident population skews significantly older, making it difficult for younger residents (late 70s) to find peers with shared interests.
I was at Wesley Des Moines' nursing care facility for rehab, and it was wonderful. The care people were just fantastic. They have a physical therapy department, and they treated me very well. They always had a nurse in each space and in each wing. They had CNAs working under them, so there was always some sort of nursing care available. Doctors were on call and available if needed. They took me back and forth to the doctor who did the surgery. They had food available and it was very good.
We toured Wesley Des Moines. The staff was very open, very friendly, and very welcoming. It's brand new, very open, very bright and has lots of daylight. It was just very nice. We had lunch there. The lunch was fine.
Wesley Des Moines is a very beautiful campus, and the staff is very friendly and caring. The residents seemed very happy. They have lots of activities. It's all in one place. They have everything that you could possibly want. They have the standard rec room, they have a library, and they have a theater. It's very nice. I wish I could afford it because it's very expensive, too.
Our primary reason for choosing Wesley Des Moines was that the campus was being completely redeveloped and it had 3 bedroom, 1810 sq ft. Rainier apartments available. We moved in April 2023 at ages 78 and 78. Our goal was to move into a forever home that would not require us to move again unless we became completely incapacitated and needed a lot more help. We are totally satisfied with the apartment and the successful completion of all the construction that was promised. Staff is friendly and h
We toured Wesley Des Moines. I like that there were lots of people there, lots of activities, lots of fitness things, their building and the indoor swimming pool, and it's close to the city library. I like them. They took us around, and they had lots of information that I got. They did have a library. I think they had a pool table. They had several dining rooms. The meals were a free continental breakfast and one other meal a day. We had lunch there. The cleanliness, I thought, was pretty g
Make sure you know what they need…no hoyer lifts and very little provided. Overprice and misrepresented.
Wesley Des Moines was lovely. I liked that all of the apartments that we saw were brand new, and they were spaced beautifully. They had lovely ceilings. And they had a church there on site, which was just lovely. They had a snack bar on the premises. It was just neat, and I liked it. The staff who gave us the tour was very helpful and let us make decisions. She didn't do a big sale. She introduced us to the place and then let us make decisions and pointed out some of the things. She didn&
We moved in to an 1800+ sq ft 3 bedroom apartment (the biggest they have) in the new Garden building 30 March 2023. We are both 78 years old and used to living independently. Our reason for selling our house and moving was to guard against the eventuality of a health crisis that forces the move at a time when we were least prepared to do it. The apartment is beautiful, new and very functional. The kitchen is better than the one we had in our 4 bedroom house. The staff is friendly and helpful and
We found Wesley Des Moines. It's close to our doctors and the area that we're familiar with. It had a lot of activity and everything going for it. They all seemed great. We just liked the location of it. We tried the food. It was lunch time, and we just had a sandwich. We're planning to move when there's a spot available that is what we want.
This facility is NOT consistently checking visitors for Covid vaccination proof, nor is it requiring masks. This lack of attention to mandates puts all of its residents at risk. Shameful.
We chose Wesley Homes Des Moines for Mom. They give her lots of opportunities, lots of good care, and oversight. They have a good library, social activities like board games, Bingo, and excursions. They also have their own activities on the site as well, like little fairs and family days. I like the food. It's well prepared, healthy, and there's a good variety. They have the full range of care, from independent living, all the way up to nursing care. The staff is very well organized an
My mom was in independent living in Wesley Homes Des Moines. Her apartment was really nice, and they had quite a few activities. I would say that the food is average, but my mom didn't enjoy the food as much as she does at her current community. They had everything that I can think of, like a library, gym, and a bistro if you don't want to go to the dining room. It was not as friendly as the other senior place, but it was very clean and well maintained, and everything was upgraded. The
Wesley Homes Des Moines had a very impressive setting, and I liked the fact that it was a real community with units where you can live independently. It also had assisted living and memory care -- the whole shebang. It had substantial grounds overlooking a beautiful scenery of the inlet from the Pacific Ocean.
Mom lived at Wesley Homes for four years. The building was getting kind of old, but the people there were very nice. They had a wider variety of activities for their 400 residents in two buildings. The food was okay.
My grandmother was a resident in The Arbor of Wesley Homes and she stayed there for several months prior to her passing. The staff at Wesley homes was very helpful and caring especially those in the Arbor. My grandmother enjoyed the atmosphere and the fact that she was able to still have freedom and be a part of activities. She was able to socialize when she wanted, or just stay in her room if that is what she chose to do. We enjoyed the fact that we knew she was safe and should a problem arise
