Reviews for Aegis Lodge of Kirkland

Caring Staff, Declining Standards

Aegis Lodge earns praise for caring staff, beautiful natural setting, and engaging activities, with many families reporting excellent experiences over multiple years. However, a critical recent review highlights serious decline in housekeeping standards, food quality deterioration, and management issues including months-long elevator outages and high staff turnover. Communication consistency remains an ongoing challenge, particularly in memory care, though some families appreciate the facility's responsiveness when concerns are raised.

Al (general manager), [name removed](community coordinator) are both outstanding.. We love the aids in memory care ([name removed], [name removed], [name removed]and others) the staff turn over has been limited and we always find them helpful... The food is great (mom has put on some weight!) and we always find everything clean and welcoming. My only issue has been consistent communication which I think is very common in memory care units.

Our musical duo, Patti and Phillip, have performed at the Lodge multiple times. We are always impressed by the loving care and enthusiasm of the staff. A bright and cheery place with the wonderful aim of celebrating seniors and memory care residents with the respect and joy that they so deserve. Every effort was made to ensure that our performance could be done with ease and connection. Kudos to everyone for their work and love!

Have been here a little over 5 years. Yummy food, comfortable rooms and beautiful landscaping. A truly wonderful Assisted Living facility, with caring employees and a great General Manager, [name removed].

Real food, real freedom. The residents can eat on their own schedule. For my mom, that freedom will make a big difference in her choice to move because she feels respected and in control. This is a little thing but it makes a big difference when compared to other assisted living companies.

Aegis Lodge actually feels like home. What really struck me was how cozy everything feels. There are little nooks for reading, spots to play chess or just chat near the fireplace. It doesn’t feel institutional at all. My aunt lives at an assisted living facility that feels like a hospital. I will be getting her to tour here.

Lots of activities. I’m honestly amazed by the activity calendar. Chair yoga, bingo, movie nights. It’s so varied and thoughtful. I don’t want my parents to feel lonely so these features stoof out to me during the tour.

My mother has been at Aegis Lodge for about 5 1/2 years. When my mother entered Aegis Lodge it was a well maintained place with good food. As the years have gone by the place has become unmanaged, the housekeeping is horrible and the food is awful. It is definitely not chef quality as they advertise. My sister has complained repeatedly about the housekeeping and food with no avail. I just recently visited my mother and her apartment was filthy, her sheets, clothes and towels after being launder

[name removed] left the lodge in the early summer to return to her own home. The Pt program and the food were outstanding. Unfortunately the discharge planning and support for return home were non-existent. Staff enjoyed [name removed] and wanted her to stay. While the lodge provided a great intermediate step for her to gain confidence and demonstrate her ability to return home, it was not consistent with their mission. In terms of a permanent setting, it is a great place.

The staff are fantastic. Very understanding of family concerns and accommodating. My dad wasn't there long, but overall it was a good experience.

Aegis Lodge was gorgeous. It was a beautiful facility. The people seemed very nice. They had a lot of activities. The food looked good. The person who took me on the tour was very nice and very helpful. They gave me some cookies, and those were good. The building looked beautiful and extremely clean. Everybody seemed okay. It was just a little bit impersonal. The rooms were good sizes. Usually, two private rooms would share a bathroom, and it was very nice.

We are happy. Working with people and staff changes there were a few hiccups but staff very helpful in working out the bumps.

My family is grateful for the kind and compassionate staff who make our Mom feel well cared for. The beautiful natural setting surrounded by trees is peaceful and make her feel she lives in a treehouse. They have a variety of fun daily activities and outings, and she's already met a few friends to dine with. The Chef works with her diet restrictions and prepares delicious meals. We are greeted warmly when we visit and feel like part of a big family now. Thank you Aegis Lodge! ♥

The staff are great. The place is clean and well maintained. I get weekly emails about what and how Mom is doing, complete with pictures. They took care of the move. Meals are great. I would recommend this facility to others.

There's a lot of things we didn't like about Aegis Living Lodge. It was dirty. It wasn't well-kept. The staff was less than adequate. The activities were minimal. They transported my father's wife without permission to a doctor's appointment, and she ended up having an accident with her walker and dying from those injuries. Mondays and Tuesdays, the staff were OK, but even all the way up to the manager, we struggled with it. We felt that the manager misrepresented many

Our family had an in person tour with Aegis Lodge and we thought the tour and community was a great experience but it was just going to be to large for our loved one as well as too modern

The staff at Aegis Lodge are friendly and responsive. My mom's room in memory care is always tidy, and she feels safe and well cared for. They provide fun, calm activities that are appropriate for memory care residents, including hitting the balloon, Bingo, singing together, and watching movies. My only concern is that it sometimes feels as if they are short staffed.

Overall we have been very happy with Aegis Lodge community, and the staff members are all very nice. During the holiday season they had some holiday events that everyone was invited to and we really liked that. Coming from independent living to assisted living we are learning the ropes and asking a lot of questions and we appreciate how responsive they are when we send emails and they are more then willing to work with us on certain situations. We have had a little trouble with communication bu

They have been wonderful with my friend, I am very please with the attentiveness they give my friend. The value of cost is good for what you get within the community.

My mom lived for over a year and a half at Aegis Living Lodge. The community is exceptional. It's well run. The staff is very good. The people who were running it got to know my mom very well. They had some awareness of her behavior and took steps to mitigate that. The facility itself was very clean. There are good sized rooms and a good size community space with lots of social activities when they're allowed. Unfortunately, my mom happened to be staying there during the years of COVID

There are some staff who are very good and some staff who are very bad, and you never know what you will get. They have a low response rate to the call button, you can wait for 2 hours. When I had an emergency, I would just call the front desk. They could've improved on a lot during my stay. Sometimes they ran out thing for weeks, like black tea and regular sugar. They were full of chemical substitutes, but I did not want those.

They're very proactive in terms of communication. They've done an excellent job of following up and trying to identify the best way to interact with my mom. They try to establish what role the family members are going to have and what type of relationship the family wants to have with the facility. So if you want to be really informed, they're happy to provide that. Or if you only want them to call when there's an emergency or something that needs your attention, they're willing to work with

PLEASE do NOT leave a loved one with Aegis Lodge!! We are currently in the process of moving our loved one out as we've recently seen multiple issues. 1) Paying for multiple showers a week, but showers are not happening. When we asked a caregiver, they said there was not enough time to get all of the work done, showers are the easiest to let go. 2) Our loved one has a very special diet for medical reasons (and we are charged extra for the diet). It's been obvious the diet has not

I did not feel like I got the whole tour with Aegis Lodge. We felt that the facility was too big and so the care would not be as personalized as we were looking for. It is also very expensive.

LindaMarch 2, 2019

We would give everything about Aegis Lodge a 10. Other than, sometimes when my mom needed something urgent there wasn't quite enough help. But everything else is excellent, the food, the support and care, and the people. In terms of activities, mom likes the music, they also do nails and they have bingo. She also thought the food was really good. Anything she didn't get, if she asks them for it they got it for her. They even came in and lowered the bed for mom when it was too high. The

I went and visited a friend at Aegis. It was always immaculate and attractively decorated. I had seen various activities there that included the people. I tried the food, and it was very good. The apartment had a living room with a little kitchenette, and then there's a bedroom and bathroom. The staff was always pleasant and very caring with the people. If I would be going to a nursing care, I would very likely pick that one because my friend lived there and because it was very nice, health

My dad lives at this community and has been there for about a year. The staff has been very patient with him and it shows how much they care for him. The nurses and aids are very responsive and my dad has great connections with some other residenys even though he is in a difficult stage of his dementia. I trust this place to be the best in the area. I also see constant improvements and feel that they are constantly trying to up their game.

I am currently seeking a new home for my parent, I would not recommend this place for your loved one. There is new management that have no idea what they are doing and always in meetings, so there is no way of getting a hold of them. Calls and emails are returned days later, and training need to be enforce for all staff. There is also an executive director from a different aegis who is always there handling the current executive directors problem. The helping executive director is unfriendly and

It seems that the assisted living facility was much better than most others I have been to. The environment and decorations of the place made it seem less like an assisted living facility, but rather more like a community for older people. the staff were very welcoming and understanding of the people and I believe that the management was excellent to be able to provide constant good service. I then talk to some people living there and they all seemed to enjoy their time. I was extremely impresse

My mom has lived there for 3 years, she came from another community where they could no longer care for her. Lodge has a new director and some other new team members and my experience with them has been great. The past executive director (Wilson) was responsive to me when I brought up issues to him also. My mom lived in the assisted living and moved to the secured memory care last year but she is always well cared for and often comes to the other area for activities. They are all very open to fe

Look elsewhere for memory care. Grossly over priced. Memory care is run down, dreary, dirty & understaffed. Someone is getting rich off the misfortune of others. Exec administrator deflects and makes excuses for problems. Aids are very good (the one bright spot). Residents are not kept as clean as they should be and with high turn over, it's difficult to communicate the needs of your loved one. Your loved one deserves better. Other places are better, cleaner and cheaper.

I have a friend who's sister and brother in law live here. There are not a lot of facilities where there are couples but when I visited with my friend it seems that there are a lot of couples. My friends family had moved the couple from a place to another and they settled in this place because they have a full memory care and could care for the wife. It is a very nice place. Her husband is also well taken care of as he needs some care but there are many people who don't need care or ha
