Reviews for Regency Newcastle
Warm Staff, Staffing Struggles
Regency Newcastle earns praise for exceptionally friendly, caring staff and a welcoming atmosphere that helps residents feel at home quickly. However, families report inconsistent cleanliness (dirty bathrooms, messy common areas), chronic staffing shortages leading to slow meal service and limited front desk hours, and occasional maintenance issues like broken air conditioning. While most reviewers highlight the warm environment and good food, prospective families should inquire about current staffing levels and housekeeping standards.
All the staff were friendly and made me feeling welcome there. I truly appreciate the associate took time to showing me around and answering questions.
I recently took a tour after a recommendation to consider Regency. The guide was kind, informative, and professional. I was shown the amenities and the apartment seemed adequate. However, I did not see many activities going on or see things on their calendar that would have interested me.
Our guide was kind and helpful. We found the facility felt more like a nursing home than an independent and assisted living place. The bathroom was dirty at 10:30 AM. There were messes in offices and an unclean table in the conference room. The outdoor space was unkept with uncomfortable furniture and a tiny area. There was a bad smell on the first floor. Only half of the apartments have A washer and dryer and none have full kitchens.
My Dad stayed here for a 2 week respite stay this past June and really enjoyed his visit. The facility is clean and brightly lit. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and hospitable. Everything is run smoothly and management is organized. Residents are super friendly and made him feel at home. Would definitely recommend this facility to anyone needing independent or assisted living.
My Mom recently moved into Regency Newcastle and I spent about a month with her while she was acclimating to her new place. The thing that struck me the most is how kind the entire staff is to the residents! Starting with the front desk, the dining crew, the caretakers and the administrators. It’s a very nice place!
Really nice executive director and front desk personnel. There are things that could be improved like staffing for meals and front desk hours. It closes up lock tight at 7pm and they don’t unlock till 9am so that makes visiting a little difficult. We have encountered a few other issues but they get worked out fairly well. The food has been great and that is a big part of daily enjoyment/conversation. The PT’s have been top notch and really helped a lot! This is what we have been most than
It gave me a warm inviting environment. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience I have had so far.
Everyone at Regency Newcastle was very nice and I did enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience I have had.
I recently moved my mom and stepdad into Regency Newcastle. It was a great move, they felt at home right from the beginning, and the staff and residents have been very friendly and welcoming. Their apartment is first class, roomy and well taken care of. I highly recommend it for folks who are needing more help or will need a bit more help in the near future.
Really enjoyed my stay. Wonderful staff. Breakfast is served a little to early for me.I really like the varirty of activities. I was at Newcastle 14 days i met a lot of nice people with each of them having an interesting story to tell.
I picked the place for a few different reasons. First, it was one of the few places that offered Medicaid support after two years. Of the three locations in the area that offer that type of program, It was the best overall choice considering the cost for the first two years, The condition of the facilities, friendliness of staff, and area or location.
I had few concerns about the respite care I received at Heritage Newcastle. I’m not a wallflower. I make my concerns promptly known, so they are immediately addressed. It’s a very positive atmosphere because they care about your comfort. I very much enjoy garden club, exercise, drumming, trivia and sometimes bingo depending on my mood and to do list. There are plenty of other options, so my day is rarely boring. The nurses are friendly and very attentive. For these reasons and more, I’m moving
I really like it here. It was really a good choice. It's a very friendly community. The staff is good. The people are very nice, pleasant, and helpful. I like my apartment, and they come in and clean and change the sheets once a week.
Our family had an in person tour and the tour was very good, but the way it is laid out it seems more hospital like and closed off. However the staff were very nice and the lady was extremely informative.
It is a good place for someone that needs this type of care. They are currently under the pandemic restrictions and they are handling it well.
We chose Regency Newcastle because we could tell that the staff were happy and caring from our virtual tour. They also had great grounds, the setting is really nice. The room sizes here are adequate, you just have to plan. I would tell others that they sometimes need to be prompted for communication, but once you ask they are more than willing to take time to talk to you. I would recommend.
Finding Regency Newcastle was a dream come true for my very independent grandmother. The staff and facilities are absolutely wonderful - you can tell how much they care for their residents. My grandmother calls me everyday beaming about all of the activities and how she finally feels "at home". I would recommend this facility 10 times over!
If we needed a place today, we'd choose this one. Wonderful atmosphere, great floor plans, green space, pool for hydrotherapy, location. Assisted living available so no need to move as they age. Medical on site 24/7. Visiting physicians available while you look for doctors in the area. On-site physical therapy.
Finding a place for my 92 yr mom after dad passed was stressful. Would mom like and adjust to her new life? The answer was Yes! She is doing well at Newcastle. Loves the staff, food and outings. She knew it would be a change from her old life but she finds Newcastle to be more than acceptable. Price is very workable and services included are great. Friendly helpful staff and overall great up beat mood to the whole center.
They have had inoperative air conditioning for over a year. Residents refer to themselves as inmates. Residents can get out at anytime of the day or night but don't have a key to get in at night. Residents try to garden but mgmt locks the hoses. Residents have had all activities cancelled because the air conditioning in their van is broken. Caution caution. - don't move here
Very nice community.
The tour was good and we saw that they were remodeling. It made it hard to tell what it would be like, but it still was nice but also in the between stage of remodeling. The director, did great and I believe she just took over as the director. She knew a lot about the community and we really like her and the community. They were not the best fit for my In-Law.
Regency Newcastle was the best location for us. Only 12 Minutes down the road with easy access to & from. Beautiful facility with all the needed requirements for mom. Everything instantly fell into place once we made the decision on Thursday. Mom was moved in by Friday.
Looks great! Has respite care but no memory care.
They're very short staffed. The food service is very slow. I think they have a high turnover, so they're always training people. The nursing is okay, but it's hard to find someone who knows what's going on. I've had an issue with the financing, but it eventually got resolved. It does meet all of my mother's needs. The staff tries hard, and they are very friendly.
We absolutely love it. She is starting to come around, and doing all the activities and things. It's very nice. I have eaten there a couple of time, one time it was way too salty, but in general it's not too bad. It clean, and everyone is wonderful, there have been a few communication issues. I would highly recommend them to others. We liked that they had the pool here as well.
The facility at Regency Newcastle is very nice, but they do have some issues with staffing. From what I can gather they do not pay their staff to well and as such they have a high turn-over rate. They seem to care more about having and keeping up a nice facility than finding and hanging onto good competent staff. The nursing care is very good though.
