Empress Senior Living is a beautiful, boutique-style community in Laurelhurst that feels more like an upscale hotel than a traditional senior living community—while still being very reasonably priced. I made the biggest mistake moving my mom here. The care staff are lazy, not trained, don’t respond to residents care needs. They don’t care about people. They are liars and do not document incidents in order to hide from the state. The Health and Wellness Director had her nursing license suspended and enforcement taken against her. The care staff are not properly trained, park residents in front of elevator and leave them there to fend for themselves. When residents push their pendants for help, the care staff clear the call but don’t help the resident. There are long call times when requesting help. Leisure Care as a corporation only cares about filling the building with residents they have no intention of caring for them. They make promises but don’t believe it. My mother lived at The Empress Memory Care from September 2023 until her passing in May 2024. Within the first two weeks, her jewelry began disappearing, including a ruby ring she had worn daily for over ten years and never removed. Mom just moved to Empress Senior Living at Laurelhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care. It's a facility that was just built a few years ago, and their staff is wonderful. Our family couldn't be happier with the Empress. After my mom lost her husband of 60 years, the staff & community welcomed her with open arms and helped her settle in. Empress Senior Living was a brand-new facility. It was very, very nice inside. I thought the layout was very good. It had a nice rooftop garden, a nice dining facility, and nice staff. It was also very clean. They had a very nice coffee bar and a nice library with a fireplace. It's just a tough area to get to for parking. I toured Empress Senior Living and it was a great tour. The cleanliness and friendliness were both great, also. However, the facility cost is pretty pricey.

The level of care and expertise on taking are of elderly is horrifyingly bad. Never put a loved one in their care. Their nursing staff is inept, unkind and unfit to care for residents. My Dad was there for month and the decline in his health due to their lack of care was shocking (lead to spending weeks in the hospital and is now living in a different place).
