Reviews for Ida Culver House Broadview
Excellent Living, Transition Challenges
Ida Culver House Broadview earns overwhelmingly positive reviews, with residents and families praising the caring, responsive staff, beautiful well-maintained grounds, excellent food, and vibrant activities program. The community excels in independent living with residents consistently noting the welcoming atmosphere and quality of care. However, several critical reviews from 2017-2023 raise concerns about management turnover impacting quality, understaffing in assisted living, inconsistent nursing home care, forced private caregiver requirements as needs increase, and high costs without Medicaid options that can force families to transfer loved ones when care needs escalate.
The best decision I made was to move into Ida Culver House Broadview! I was skeptical at first to leave my home in a quite neighborhood surrounded by trees to move to the “city” in an apartment-like setting, but the stairs and isolation were getting to be difficult. After visiting several facilities, I’d chosen ICHB because of the great vibe, lovely apartments, beautiful gardens and fantastic food. Since day one of moving in I’ve been amazed at how wonderful and interesting life can be! The
My move was very easy, excellent support from everyone at Ida Culver. They also assigned a resident (more like a big sister) to show me around and introduce me to people and activities for a week or so. it's a great place. The staff responds very quickly to request for help or repairs. Both residents and staff are very friendly. I'm just starting to take part in the activities and they have an excellent variety of things to dol. The food is wonderful. I'm just starting PT and am very impressed w
My mother spent four wonderful years at Ida Culver House Broadview. The staff was always available and quick to take care of any need. The buildings and gardens are well maintained, and the terrace garden in particular is a lovely spot. My mom always raved about the food and the sweet staff that served in the dining room. We will miss this warm and loving community.
We moved friends from another state into Ida Culver House Broadview in November 2025, after taking years to thoroughly research many other options. This research gave us a good understanding of what to look for in a retirement facility. This is a complex analysis, and depends entirely on the individuals looking for a community. ICHB received our highest marks on paper. However, it was not until we stayed down the hall as we moved our friends into their sun-filled apartment (with a view of the Ol
My parents moved there over 5 years ago shortly before the COVID pandemic changed everything. My mother-in-law had moved in a month or two before that. We felt that the staff did a great job of adapting to difficult circumstances and continued to adapt as the pandemic guidance evolved. As my mother's dementia grew worse my parents moved together into the Terrace, the memory care unit. The care there was good. Eventually Mom died due to the dementia and Dad moved back into a regular apartmen
I have an elderly parent at Ida Culver House Broadview and highly recommend it for senior living or assisted living. The facilities are safe and clean, and the staff are courteous, friendly, attentive, and caring. Other facilities have more of a corporate feel, but Ida Culver House feels very community oriented. The staff plan multiple daily events for residents, know all the residents name, and treat everyone with compassion and respect.
I moved into Ida Culver house Broadview a year ago. It has been a wonderful experience. The staff seeks to please, and the residents are friendly and interesting. Our apartment is very comfortable, well laid out, and well maintained (with a lovely view). The food is superb, and the activities are aimed at a variety of interests.
I have lived here for almost three years now and remain very positive about it. Why you ask? It has to do with the Staff and the other Residents who live here. The Staff are Great! they always greet you "by Name" when they see you. Ask if you need help with anything. And follow up with what's needed. I have made many new friends and feel comfortable to sit down with other folks when my friends are not available..
When my mother was ready to move from Florida to Seattle, I did an extensive search for a senior community in the Seattle area. After visiting more than 20 places, it was clear that Ida Culver House Broadview was the best one. My mother has now lived at ICHB for two and a half years, and she really loves it. Ida Culver is an excellent senior community in so many ways. Let me highlight just four of them. 1. Caring and responsive (and award-winning) staff: Every staff person my mother and I have
In the two years that I have lived at Ida Culver Broadview senior housing I have consistently appreciated both the people and the programs. There is an amazing choice in programs to meet people’s interest. Many are participatory; some like music concerts are for our enjoyment. In every case, the quality is extremely high. Every time I meet new people here I think how fortunate I am to live in the Ida Culver community because the people are consistently interesting, pleasant and kind. The staff
I chose to come to Ida Culver House after having put a deposit here while living in Las Vegas. I am very happy with my decision to come here as I have been very happy living here the reasoning being the people, the staff, the food, they have here including the wonderful library they have available to residents here as well as many learning programs and many musical talented individual musicians who come here to perform! I think I am in the best place available in the Northwest and I wouldn’t
Last driving the shuttle blocked the only exit and didnt even attempt to leave space when there was enough for two vehicles
When we were looking for independent/assisted living for my mom, we toured 14 different communities from Issaquah to Everett, back down to South Seattle and all the points in between. (Let me stop briefly here to give a shout out to all of the ERA communities… multiple ones made our top picks list.) While we discovered many excellent places, the one that really stood out as right for mom and right for us was Ida Culver House Broadview. The location is exceptionally convenient. The rooms are love

Helpful staff, both administration and care. Well maintained facility. Free visitor parking if you use the intercom at the side entrance. Good mix of room sizes/layouts in independent/assisted living (up to detached cottages). More limited in memory care, but I've been told by many people that the rooms are much bigger than the average memory care rooms in other facilities.
My father and some friends are currently living at the IDA Culver House, Broadview in Seattle. I have had dinner with them a number of times. Every time I visit the Ida Culver house, I am just so impressed with the quality of the staff. One of the places where the staff has an opportunity to really shine is in the dining room. Every time I am there, I am just so impressed with how the staff handles their roles, how kind and engaging they are with the residents. At the end of pretty much every me
One of my best friends chose to move into this residence, happy they did. My visits have been pleasant, friendly, staff professional and caring. Variety of activities, good food for having to prepare for so many. Recent piano concert very enjoyable.
My mom relocated from California to Ida Culver Broadview. She is very happy here. There are a lot of activities and a swimming pool.
my grandma is saying she enjoys it so i’m giving it 3 stars because it’s depressing
My father lived in the Terrace community for over two years. He had memory issues as well as physical needs and staff patiently and kindly supported him on both fronts. He especially enjoyed the wonderful parties and celebrations, music, games, dog visits, gardens, and the very personal warmth that many staff shared in both caring for him and conversing with him. His own special gifts of singing and light-heartedness were appreciated and encouraged and we were fortunate that he was able to stay
Update to response: The call light was cleared by a staff member after 24 minutes. And she was not yet found by that time. So let’s not try to conclude that it was 10-15 minutes that she was waiting . Thank you. This place tries to put out this great reputation but when it comes to actual SAFETY of your loved one they are very much lacking with an adequate system to appropriately and rapidly respond to emergencies. My family member has two times utilized two different emergency call buttons in
I moved my two parents, aged 83 and 87, into Ida Culver in early December 2023, after putting them on the wait list in May. My initial tour of Ida Culver with Pam Perry was one of my first interactions with staff at any facility, and she remains my gold standard for helping navigate this complex emotional, logistical, and financial process. From the jump she provided clear communication, incredible patience, helpful perspective, timely follow-up, and accurate expectation-setting about how long
We visited close personal friends of 68 years there. Guest room was convenient and inexpensive. Meals were terrific! Huge delicious selection on dining room menu all three meals every day! Nice lobby to go with each hall, plus living room with fireplace on first floor, library, pool and exercise room. Very friendly employees.
Excellent and nice place
I had the opportunity recently to work with the Community Relations and Nursing Staff at Ida Culver Broadview in reserving an apartment for my wife in their Terrace Memory Center. Everyone I delt with was both helpful and friendly and, incredible as it is these days, they answered their phones personally when I called. That made it an efficient and non-stressful process. I recommend Ida Culver Broadview highly if you need any of the accommodations they offer.
I shared a wonderful celebration of life with good friends!
Sadly, this facility has gone down hill in the past few years since getting a new Director. Their Assisted Living program is abysmal with not enough help, long waits for care and a lack of expertise and management competence since losing their Nursing Director last fall. The food is hit and miss since losing their Culinary Director for some unkown reason. The gardens are beautiful but peek behind the curtain and you will find a very dated facility that is not well managed. Eventually, when you
Sadly, this facility has gone down hill in the past few years since getting a new director. Their Assisted Living program is abysmal with not enough help, long waits and a lack of expertise and competence since losing their Nursing Director last fall. The facility does have beautiful gardens but peek behind the curtains and you will see a dated facility with hit and miss food selections all at an exorbitant price point. I would not trust them to take care of my family member. Also know managemen
Had a good visit with longtime church friends
Wow! Outstanding! Visited a couple who reside there and it was the best experience!! Stayed a few days in their guest room and it's much cleaner then motels !!! Even the fancy motels!! Food was delicious! The gardens activities for all residents seems not ever a dull moment the dining room you can see the mountains what a beautiful place to dine! All kinds of places to walk to keep active. What I experienced all staff were super friendly and they really listened to their residents needs.
Just a beautiful place to be in late life! An excellent visit with our family!

Although it took us 12 mins. to find parking for our mid-size SUV, we're so impressed with the beauty of Ida Culver House Broadview -- inside, outside, many quality choices & entertaining spaces for residents, its cleanliness, att'n to maintenance, & the security. We didn't partake in meals, but both our family members love the food & menu choices, & my sis loves all the little library locations within. Staff were very welcoming & helpful to us during this, our 1st visit. We're impressed by the
Great place for your loved ones. Very caring staff. Excellent care
Very nice place, came to visita friend that just moved there.

They were very accommodating, found a parking place near the front door my 90 year old guest and also brought my friend down stairs do we didn’t have to get a wheelchair. Front desk very welcoming

I visit my family member here at least once a week. The staff is always friendly. The facility is always clean and welcoming. Before Covid, when I used to eat in the restaurant at least once a week, the food was delicious. I expect it still is.
I am impressed by how well run your business seems to be. The staff is so friendly and helpful. There are many activities and residents appear to be active and engaged. I am glad my sister is here.
Visiting my mother. Beautiful site and helpful, friendly staff. Nice coffee bistro upstairs.
My folks have been in memory care @ the Terrace for over 4 years and have received excellent care at Ida Culver Broadway House. The staff is loving and caring, the food is very good and varied, and they offer a variety of activities such as music, concerts, sing alongs, and chair exercises.
We had dinner with mom. The staff was quite friendly and everything was very nice!

Visited a relative. COVID precautions appropriate and appreciated. Landscaping is gorgeous.
Ida Culver Broadview has been a great place for mom for over 3 years, with helpful, truly friendly staff, and working with us to meet her needs. During the pandemic their policies kept the residents safe while always allowing us to visit with mom.
Well your facility is very nice, But I object to getting your texts early in the next morning, twice now about how my visit was. I don’t appreciate you waking me up.i don’t recall authorizing use of my phone number for that unless it was with your cumbersome check in.system . I come there to visit a friend that is all.I don’t want advertisement. Would have a much higher opinion of your facility if you left me alone.
Always pleasant to visit my MIL and ICHB.
What attracted me to Ida Culver Broadview House: Beautiful grounds/landscaping; green lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and a courtyard with an abundance of spectacular flora and view of Olympics. 2. An apartment that offers view of tree tops, frequent birds, passing planes and gorgeous sunsets from my living room window. From my veranda I see the Olympic Mountains. The door to the stairway leading directly to my room is approached through the pea patch. I enjoy the diversity of colorful flowers thr
Over the past eight months, I have been telling several of my family members about how wonderful Ida Culver House Broadview is and how happy Mom is there. Last week my family came from out-of-town to visit Mom, to see her and to see where she lives now. They all said that they were very impressed with how beautiful and well-maintained the buildings and grounds are, but they were most impressed by how caring and friendly the amazing staff are to the residents and their families. We all love Ida C
I was there with a small group, doing a concert. There were about 100 listeners, and they were friendly and appreciative.
They have a very caring and responsive staff. And it's a really nice facility.
The staff are very nice and polite to work with and communicate with. The community has different level of cares. I would recommend the community; however, I haven't seen any other community. There are activities available for the residents to choose from. The community provides a weekly newsletter that includes an activities calendar.
The staff members are very caring, supportive and really invested in the care they provide for the residents. The facility is beautiful and well kept.
Our family had an in person tour and it was a good experience but to expensive.
In general, Ida Culver House is really good. The grounds are beautiful, and our loved one's apartment is very nice. They redid it right before she moved in. And all the older apartments are getting redone before people are moving in. In general, she seems happy there. It's been difficult with Covid shutdowns. With my ratings, also know that I don't generally give anyone a perfect score. In the beginning the food was very good. But she and the other residents have been complaining lately
I was with my friend visiting his grandpa, he likes to visit him as often as he can with work in the way, and I have no idea who it was but if im going to be honest it looked like a maintenance man. I believe he was about 50 and his name was Ray or something, it was tough to hear. I have never heard anyone be so loud and verbally abusive in a work environment, especially in a retirement home. Although I may have been a little nosey but I turned around the corner and I could hear him yelling at t
My Mom was diagnosed with mild vascular dementia several years ago. For years she was able to live completely independently, but with time, her disease progressed to the point where we decided that she would do better in a supportive community. But where to move her? The choices seemed overwhelming. Over the years I've had experiences with a wide range of retirement communities, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, etc. involving family and friends, so I'd seen both the best and others I
I would tell others that as is with other communities, the good ones are being watched. The staff are very responsive when I check in with them on something for my loved one. If it wasn't for COVID it would be easier for my loved one to get to know others. We were told there would be lots of vegetarian options and veggie options, and there isn't. Those who are vegetarians are having a difficult time in getting some healthier options for the residents, but are still working on it.
I thought it was a beautiful place. Especially like that each apartment has a washer and dryer.
Taking good care of my dad. No Covid at the Broadview campus.
my mom has been there 6 monthes now. Very good care. Clean. Food ranges from decent to very good. Grounds and bld maint very good. I would reccomend.
We found the place to be very friendly and easy to navigate. The staff quickly learn everyone’s name. The activities are good. The meals are not as fancy as at some other places but they are fine and the staff is accommodating. Located close to a park, stores and restaurants. Good value.
So I left my forthcoming and honest review of ICHB nursing home. I was trying to do an edit on it to say that the owner posted one of those "online lip service responses" is what I call them, but my edit button didn't pop up. I did in fact leave a message and naturally, no return phone call. I'm just letting you know, the response from the owner was "for show" for the public. sad!
Sadly, I had one of the worst experiences of my life in the Ida Culver House Broadview. I attribute that to mainly one person who was instrumental in wreaking havoc regarding decisions about my dad. Their administrator [name removed] didn't listen to much I had to say about the problems dad was facing. One of their own staff people [name removed], told me that she "hated" the nursing home. She would come from the 3rd floor assisted Living and help out with dad. She was helpful to us when he was
My father was in Ida Culver Nursing home and it was the most horrible experience of my life!!! I had to file several complaints against them and ultimately I was forced to move him after their horrid treatment. They were very covert in their actions. All the way from the Administrator Brittany Peterson down to some additional staff members. One staff member who no longer works their told me they were to notify the managers and admin when I came in the building. They knew I was not happy about my
Great personal care taken from all the staff. Amazing campus, first class in each and every step. Thriving, vibrant population that is out doing things. An engaging place that is very high on our list.

Excellent visit. [Removed] took us on a very nice tour and her information comments were appreciated. We could not afford their rental fees, so made no further visits.
I toured this community and the staff was really nice. They answered all of my questions I had. It was really top end and fancy. Dad wouldn't have been comfortable here. It just wasn't a good fit for him.
I had recently taken a tour of this community and I have no complaints about the experience we had. I was looking for something for my father and the staff did a great job with the presentation. I liked the great amenities that had for the residents as well as the open floor plan. This place just did not have a spin down program with medicaid that we would have needed for the long run.
We will be moving into this nice community. We lived the staff. We were very pleased with the meal we had on the day of the tour. We love the dining area that has beautiful to see. They had alot of great activities. We will be happy to let others know of the good care and value of this nice community.
We toured this community for the care for both my mom and dad. The staff was helpful and caring. The community was clean and the menu looked appealing. We liked the list of activities that are offered to the residents. We would suggest that families your this community for care for a loved one.
Not impressive. Appears nice initially. The up front sales team excels. After that the staff is below average. After taking a week to evaluate my parent, they have taken over another week to give us back the $5000.00 deposit they cashed (even after repeated emails telling them we need the money). Here is the topper: The person evaluating our parent was borderline brash with us over the phone setting up the assessment BUT when she called to tell me our parent was declined- she was sickeni
I like this community for the care that my mother is getting. The staff is caring and very friendly. We like this community for always being clean and maintained when we visit. The meals are outstanding with a nice variety of healthy meals. I like that she is offered to participate in the activities. We would recommend this community for good care and great value to other families.
When I toured Ida Culver House Broadview, I thought it was a nice place. Ther staff were all friendly and gave me a lot of good information. I had a good experience touring, but it did not for my loved one's needs as good as other communities.
This is a note to thank [Removed] for service ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty! Please ask her boss to give her a big raise :-) On New Year's Eve, my husband and I brought my 89-yr-old mom for her first visit. First, we were treated to a wonderful lunch, and then [Removed] took us on a tour so that mom could see the place (it's gorgeous, especially with the HUGE Christmas tree in the foyer!). [Removed] spent all afternoon patiently showing us various rooms, and then helped us get mom settled i
Roxie was a very big help for us when we visited with her. She listened to our situation and took notes. She told us that this place was not a good fit for our dad. She continued talking with us and gave us terms that we should be thinking about how to go about looking for someplace good for dad. Really nice visit and a big help for our mom.
My mom has been here for three months. The people are friendly as well as attentive. Great place!
We chose Ida Culver for our Mom's dementia care after having her there for rehab following an unwitnessed fall and hospital stay. The staff in Memory Care are numerous, everyone busy all the time, always filling needs. The activities staff (June, et al) are amazing and patient with everyone; the nurses and caregivers are the best we've seen and never close the office door, even during quick meetings, so they remain aware of the residents at all times. An LPN and an MD are there weekly from Harbo
We're still in the adjusting period, but it's gone well as of now. The staff does very well and the food is very good.
My mom really likes it there at Broadview. I would recommend it. The staff is friendly, and it's kept clean. It's a nice place, and I don't have any complaints so far.
While a sad period in my life, I was extremely grateful for the care Ida Culver took of my Grandma in some of her last days here on earth. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. I have gone back on several other occasions to visit others I know and have always been treated extremely well. They even found jumper cables after hours when my car battery had randomly died while visiting someone there.
Ida Culver is an excellent Independent living facility. If you have a loved one who is mobile and sharp, it's a wonderful place. However, as your loved one starts down that inevitable path of decline -- physically or mentally -- you will find the transition less than accommodating. The so-called "wellness center" seems more intent on revenue generation than flexibility in addressing family needs, and may well pile on unnecessary costs. So before considering Ida Culver, focus on the long term
Ida Culver is a good community we just needed a higher level of care that they offered. For individuals who can still find there way around and are mobile this would be a really good community. But if you need more care and are a fall risk then it wouldn't be the right fit.
My sister visited. I heard that as the level of care changes, my parents would have to move again
I like this place - pivate pay only - do not take medicare - going for dinner 5/5
