Reviews for Laurel Cove Community
Caring Staff, Inconsistent Care Quality
Laurel Cove earns consistent praise for its warm, caring staff who treat residents with genuine kindness and dignity, creating a homey atmosphere despite unimpressive curb appeal. Families appreciate reasonable pricing, good food quality with an engaged chef, and robust activities, though two serious reviews describe understaffing, theft, neglect, inadequate hygiene care, poor communication, and sudden cost increases that raise concerns about consistency in care standards.
They were understaffed, there was theft of property by a staff member, neglect and the nurse and director were incompetent.
The staff at Laurel Cove are always so kind to mom. She is treated with dignity and respect. She recently had to stay in a skilled nursing facility and after that experience, being back at Laurel Cove was a huge relief for her husband and daughter. We were confident that she would be looked after by caring people.
What we like the most about the community is the friendliness and helpfulness. Yes.....we would recommend the Laurel Cove community to other families, it is nothing fancy but it has a nice vibe! [name removed] from Laurel Cove was extremely helpful and caring
Good service. Responsive staff. It's a happy place. Lots of activities and outings. Decent food
We checked out several assisted living places when choosing a place for dear ol' Dad and Laurel Cove stood well over the others. Everyone here is caring and kind, and really motivated by helping people live comfortably in a time that can be quite uncomfortable.
The staff is very compassionate. , I would recommend them. Their pricing seems slightly more reasonable than other places within similar area
Facility-location and outside is not impressive, can be misleading, but inside is very nice. Staff-very friendly and helpful but turnover of Office staff has been high. However, I think this is typical of this industry. Having said that, Memory Care Director, [name removed], has been in place for a while
The very best part of being at Laurel Cove is the human interactions with those that are employed there. Specifically, Josh, Sally, Meghan, Jackie, Larry, Eva, Domenica, Mimi, Anne, Zeleka, Matthew, Augie, Crissy, Adonnes, Anita, Florence, Alea, Samantha, Zelalem, Ti Anne, Stephanie, Faye, and Leti are all superstars in their own right. They are what makes Larel Cove and Encore Communities shine.
I want to praise the Activity Director, Maria Fe Bernaldo . I met her in May 2024. She was kind, caring and thoughtful with the residents. My sister is a resident there. She loves her!
I was connected with you as I was helping my friend find a place to find an assisted living facility. She was not clear headed to do this on her own and has No family to help. We found Laurel Cove to be the best fit, homey, good food, friendly staff, not grandiose and therefore not So crazy expensive as others.
My mother has found Laurel Cove to be a very comfortable and friendly place to live. The staff is abundantly kind and compassionate.
Regarding for, we often come in and find our friend sitting in urine and feces. I have to say that, though I understand that the obstinacy of our friend contributes because she will not call for help. Absolutely, yes we would recommend this community to other families
The staff are honestly LOVING. They care deeply about the residents and are so warm and kind with our entire family. My mother in law is entirely comfortable with the care she receives, and she needs help with bathing, toileting, dressing, and getting in and out of bed. The chef is so passionate about what he does and the special events are wonderful with special food, music, and fun special decor. The facility is not small, but feels like a family home in spirit. It's always clean and w
We picked this community because of the location, price, providing memory care and willingness to shorten private pay spend down to one year.
Unfortunately, my experience has been one of bait-and-switch across the board with memory care in Washington State. They lure you in with “discounts” (whilst still charging exorbitant “community fees” over which they can provide no itemization or rationale) then, poof! six months later, mom suddenly needs $[fee remove]month more in care charges, and you come to find her reeking of urine, with sores, and fungal infections. No follow-through was done with PT and OT. Communication and follow-thro
My mother-in-law has been a resident of Laurel Cove for close to 6 years. The staff and residents are a loving family to her. She is kept engaged with well thought out activities. From participation through a book club, art projects, Bible Study, exercise class and games, she is fully involved. The meals are nutritious and tasty. The chef meets with the residents at least monthly to request meal input. Being greeted with joy by Victoria and Stephanie at the front desk set the tone every time w
My mother has been living at Laurel Cove for a month, coming from another facility. She is entirely happy with the daily care, the quick response from staff and the high quality of the food. The environment is upbeat and friendly. This is an excellent place. I’m relieved she is at LC.
I only say 4 for the last one as I know are rates are going up in September, and a friends mom is movie in to a Wesley Homes unit that surprisingly sounds like a better deal. Mom continually tells me how friendly the staff is and how the meals are tasty - even when she doesn't care for the main selection there are tasty alternatives. The room size and amenities offered are fine for my mom's needs. Someone more able might disagree.
I went to Laurel Cove Community. The people were very friendly and they seemed to be very busy. The staff was very nice. The young woman was sitting at the desk immediately came up and said, "Hi, can I help you?" Everywhere we went it was nice and you felt very comfortable. I liked the room there. On the outside, it doesn't look like much, but when you walk in, it's a completely different feeling. The menus look good. They showed us the menus, and we were there each time at
My loved one is currently a resident at Laurel Cove. The facility is a nice clean place with a very friendly staff. They are responsive to most requests and seem to care about the residents as if they were their own. I would recommend this facility to others.
The community is fantastic, and I would highly recommend it.
It's a wonderful facility with a "down home" feel. The staff is incredible as is the food. [name removed] was reluctant, as was I, when we drove up. The outside doesn't match the inside. As soon as she walked in, she felt like she was home.
It's really a fantastic residence. The staff is incredibly friendly and caring. They follow through with each request and treat my mom with dignity, care and respect. We are very happy.
We would recommend it highly. She is so very happy there; all our family's interactions with all staff are great. It feels very caring. We only looked further from our home after finding that the care costs were exorbitant at another place we had selected. But we chose this community because for a price that is reasonable, my loved one's home is spacious and beautiful and she gets care that feels like family care... The staff seem truly happy in their work and so loving. The facility is clean
My loved one is currently a resident at Laurel Cove and everything about this place and her experience here has been great. If I was looking for a perfect place to live myself, I would move here. The friendliness and cleanliness are great. The staff, care services, meals and value for cost are also great. I would recommend Laurel Cove to others!
The thing we like best is that it is a good fit for our loved one. It is small, not too fancy nor high brow, and a friendly place. She is from small town AR, and quite southern. She is best served outside of the city limits, and Laurel Cove is a good fit for her.
My dad is going to Laurel Cove Community for respite care. It seems like a very caring community. The staff that we worked with for the placement bent over backward to understand our needs and get to know my dad who is going there. They were just very easy to work with, and we felt like they would provide a caring place for him to go. The facility seemed clean and organized. They had availability, too. The person who took us on a tour was very caring, knowledgeable, and interested in our needs.
We toured Laurel Cove Community. The one-bedroom suites are huge and clean. They have air conditioning. The staff who gave the tour was great. They offered the same amenities like housekeeping, activities, and meals. The dining area was nice and pleasant. They also have a beauty salon, and it's reasonably priced as well.
They made it easy to get her in quickly. I hear the soup is great. My loved one came home with a new haircut and crafts she had made. I think she was happy there.
It is a really good place in my opinion and we would recommend this community to other families.
My sister has been at Laurel Cove for the last couple of years. They have provided a caring, safe environment and are genuinely concerned about the welfare of their residents. Staff members that have been particularly helpful are Victoria, Shannon and Zeleka. They are all extremely responsive and do such a wonderful job taking care of the residents. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a quality assisted living situation at a reasonable cost.
I had an in-person tour of Laurel Cove Community. It was really, really friendly. Everybody seemed to know people's names, and they chatted with each other. I liked how in the memory care, the doors open out into a hallway, and that you can't get lost getting to the activities room and eating area. I saw their activities calendar, and I actually saw one of the activities. The people were sitting around and laughing. The woman doing the tour asked them what they were doing, and they sai
I've been to Laurel Cove Community in Shoreline. I only went into their nice big lobby or living room. I didn't go into anybody's room or the eating space. I was only there for a birthday party. My friend was very wobbly and his wife was in the memory unit but I never saw that. He stayed in assisted living. I think they did an excellent job with them. During my visit, I didn't go into my friend's room because the pandemic was on. We couldn't go in after we went to t
The place was nice and clean. They do a lot to make the facility not look locked. They made it look like a home. The staff was kind and welcoming. The cook was very nice and answered questions regarding diet options.
For the respite service the value for cost was totally worth it, we were very impressed. The front desk lady was extremely friendly and knew everyone's name, even the visitors. Our loved ones would say at times the portion sizes were to big but they always said the food was well prepared.
We are hoping to move here soon, we have had two separate tours and liked what we say. We especially like that they provide diabetes care which is advertised on their website. They do provide three meals a day here and It is much cheaper then our current community.
Our family had an in person tour and to our loved one it just felt more old and kind of depressing. It felt more like a hospital and not like a home. IT was a great tour, and maybe if our loved one was less mobile and needed more assistance it would of been a good fit but just not at the stage he is at now.
Toured [date removed]. One bedroom apartment is large. Mom really liked this place!
Laurel Cove has been a wonderful experience for our family. The care services are absolutely excellent, the meals are very good and they have great activities. They have kept our loved one safe during the pandemic, she is stronger then before, she is well fed and well kept and just has more interest in life now.
Thank you, Laurel Cove Community, for the good, kind care that you gave my mother, [name removed]…for almost three years. Laurel Cove’s caring, experienced staff, calm setting, and tasty, healthy meals gave me the necessary peace of mind that my mother’s needs were well met!
Laurel Cove is one of the best run facilities I have been to when searching for an assisted care facility. My Mom due to complications had to move from elder housing as the visiting nurses and care workers were enabling bad behavior regarding meds and treatment. That all changed when she moved to Laurel Cove, with competent and caring staff that are frankly angelic having to put up with my Mom's often frivolous requests and complaints. She loves it there, goes down for meals and activities
The place has been renovated and it changed names--from Anderson to Laurel Cove. The recent changes have actually been for the good, especially the food which is very very good. The new Dietary Director is very nice and accommodating. She will go the extra step to make sure residents are happy. Mom has special dietary needs, and they have always been met. Their parties are also very festive, and the food is always great! Now, my family never miss Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners at Laurel
We are highly considering this location, for proximity to family and for the amenities they have.
The Anderson Community has been the best move for our Mom. She moved in over a year ago, prior to the complete renovation of the facilities and has been extremely happy there. The entire facility is fresh new. We have found the staff to be exceptional and have only had issue with Mom's health, not living there. The food is great and the activities keep our Mom engaged and very busy. We find the Administrators and staff engage with us very well. Just don't be afraid to ask questions and be invo
The remodeled Anderson Community for assisted living is new and very nice (5 star). The apartment style living is similar to where Mom is currently. The two adult family homes onsite are adequate. Home #2 is the better of the two. Only two people are living currently. Although the smaller group in the homes provides more personal care, the rooms are little small and Mom may need more socializing although, she can participate in the activities in the newer complex.
They were okay. No major complaints, the food wasn't very good from what I hear. It was a bumpy stay, but that was more about my loved one, and if for some reason we need to find a place again, we will probably be coming back here.
