Reviews for Brookdale Yakima

Kind Staff, Serious Operational Failures

Brookdale Yakima shows deeply inconsistent performance. While some residents praise warm staff, cleanliness, and good food, serious operational failures dominate recent reviews: families report failures to notify them of hospitalizations (including one death), unprofessional staff behavior, unfulfilled care promises (missed showers, medication neglect, forgotten meals), poor follow-through on basic services, and pricing disputes where quoted rates weren't honored. Administrative disorganization—lost belongings, no discharge paperwork, slow response times—creates significant family distress despite pockets of kind employees.

Not happy. First, we were on our first visit a written quote price. When it was time to sign, the price was [amount removed] more per month. Then two months later, my sister was hospitalized and 20 hrs later she died. No one from the place called to say she was hospitalized. The hospital contacted me. I am the person who told the Brookdale manager that she died. There were other problems.

I will be removing my parent from this establishment. There are some very unprofessional workers here. For example, Davina the care coordinator, i witnessed her “making out” with another man in the facility near other residents present, completely inappropriate and unprofessional!!! That lady is also very rude to my father who is a resident at Brookdale. When I ask about medication changes for my father she never follows up and completely ignores the situation and just sits on her butt. Horrible

Brookdale Yakima has some kind employees, but at an administrative level they lack important communication and organization skills. There were multiple incidents where the nurse said she would follow through with lab work/testing for my father and then did not. He signed up to have incontinence products delivered, which the staff were supposed to monitor and order, but they failed to follow through so we had to go back to supplying them ourselves (and deal with the discomfort of him running out)

We moved my dad into this facility last fall. We quickly learned that some of the promised (and paid for) services they promote would not be provided. We were told that his apartment would be cleaned weekly; this did not happen. The nursing staff were supposed to provide basic nursing and run lab work as needed; they did not consistently follow through (which matters with medical care). Overall, the employees are nice enough, but this is a poorly run facility at the administrative level.

This is grandma’s House for REAL! Before you ever walk in the warm yellow house surrounded by beautiful flowers makes me think of my grandma‘s house. As I walk in I find smiling faces everywhere, kindness abounds from employees to residents. The rooms are cozy and spacious and the house in general is easy to navigate. This Is my choice!

They will forget to bring your parents' food. That happened once, which was bad enough. But 3x in total. My parents were only there for 4 days before I took them out and brought them home with me.

Unhappy that they did not honor the price quote given in writing on our first visit. They said it would be honored until the end of the month, then at signing, it was [removed] per month more. Their sales rep was friendly and pleasant but made several offers that she did not follow through. Unhappy with the care of my sister. They took her to the doctor, who gave ointment for rash on her bottom. 10 days later I arrived to find the medication on her table, the box still sealed. They cha

Look no further, BEST community in town. Staff are very warm & welcoming, as were the residents. Brought my grandmother in for a complimentary lunch that did not disappoint, servers were very responsive and friendly. We liked the baked cod and Alice's chicken salad, Although a great variety of options to choose from. I feel that the cleanliness of the community expresses their attention to detail in a positive way. Feedback from the residents we visited with was positive and inviting, a few ment

Brookdale Yakima was a nice facility, but it was just a little too large for mom. It was new. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was very well laid out. They had reading rooms, a theater room, and a lot of amenities for the residents. They provide transportation to appointments and activities. There was a library, a community area to watch movies, a little kitchen where they could make popcorn, and areas for family gatherings. The dining area was nice, too.

This is the 3rd facility that I have moved my father to, I feel confident in the staff and management. They offer great facilities, caring people and a very close knit group of residents. I spent several days visiting during the transition and was impressed with the great meals and activities. Our furniture movers did not arrive in time which initially caused me alot of stress. Manny graciously offered a temporary room with a bed/bedding and fully staged to allow my father the comfort and sec

Overall it's been a pretty positive experience. A few things need addressing, but I would still recommend checking it out for placement. love the energy! Everyone seems so happy all the time. The biggest improvement would be response time when a resident pushes their button. Right now it's around 30 minutes. Also residents complain about the food. (Too bland, too cold.)

Anonymous June 3, 2022

I would make sure that the community is able to completely care for your loved one's needs. Our experience was very short here for our loved. I feel that they weren't well equipped to care for all of my loved one's health needs. The food was pretty good, it could use a few more spices. The ice cream was pheromonal and it was home made.

Brookdale Yakima looked like a good place. I wouldn't have a problem putting mom in there except they're a little bit expensive. Other than that, I didn't see any problems with it at all. The staff during the tour showed me everything I needed to see. The rooms I saw were great. If I would have put her there, it was a smaller room and it would have been perfect for her. It just didn't work out. I saw the common room where there was a bunch of people hanging out and it looked

Emily and staff have been wonderful to work with while transitioning my parents into ALF from their home they have lived in for 45 years. During this hard time in their life, the Yakima Brookdale staff have been professional and compassionate. During all interactions, questions have been focused on getting to know mom and dad and what their needs are as well as their interests, goals, etc. Thank you Emily and Staff!

Brookdale Yakima is an amazing place. When I toured there, I got to eat lunch. There food is amazing. They have fine dinning with a three course meal. I also noticed when I was there that the staff is very warm and welcoming.

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mother. The woman who gave us the tour, [Removed], was just over the top pushy. She was saying anything and everything to get us to sign that day. While on the tour she would say things like, “I just checked the computer and I can give you the best price if you sign right now.” [Removed] was lovely but she was just over the top and kept calling me after the tour to get me to sign. The building itself was okay and the rooms were adequate. Ho

While looking at different properties for my father, this property seemed like a nice place. We didn’t care so much for the rooms however. The set up wasn’t necessarily to our liking. They cost a little more as well compared to other places, but that’s just because they offer more care services. Since this wasn’t necessary for my father, we didn’t move forward with them. But overall, it is a nice place.

We lived there for five years. The first four were good. The last year thing went down hill.

I did a tour of this community. The staff was nice and answered my questions. We were looking for something where the rooms were seperated from one another. We were not too happy with the lay out. Others might like this and would need to see lay out of the community and rooms.

This is a nice community. The staff has been great and are always helpful and want to make sure that everything is going good for my parents. They are not yet participating in a activities. I would recommend this for excellent care for loved ones.

After having my mother residing at Brookdale Yakima for approximately 6 weeks until her death on July 12th, I can honestly say I would not even give this facility a rating; however in order to post this review I have to choose a rating so I give the facility the lowest rating possible. From the time we contracted to place my mother at Brookdale-Yakima, we began incurring charges. Even though my mother was hospitalized until May 30th at which time she was discharged from the hospital and mov

Brookdale Yakima is a very nice facility. In the process of moving my parents in, some issues arose. They signed their contract on 5/12/16, but their specific unit was not ready for occupancy. We were assured that getting the unit ready would be of the highest priority. A move in date was set for May 27. That did not happen. Nothing had been done in the unit. Movers had been contracted, so the date was changed to May 31. Still not ready, so changed again and again. First movers backed o

Brookdale Yakima is a nice place. I would have to say the cleaning crew need some help. They do not do a very good job taking care of certain parts of the community. My mom likes the food and the staff are attentive to the residents as well as they keep us informed of her care. There are activities for the residents to enjoy.

Brookdale Yakima (Formerly Wynwood of Yakima) was excellent, very clean, and well lit. It had accommodations for people with disability or with difficulty walking. It had nice wide hallways. The staff was friendly. They had a bus taking people shopping, etc. They had all kinds of activities there.

We met with Ms. Brown on Monday. Everyone we met was very friendly. The residents were active and looked happy to be there. The dining area was very inviting. We were impressed with the one bedroom that we were shown.

Overall things have gone well here, although I was not entirely pleased with their pricing structure. The facility itself is very nice, and the caregivers are all very friendly and professional. The price seemed fine at the beginning, however shortly after we moved my loved one in they began adding on other services and the fee very quickly increased. It was enough that we were considering finding another facility, but we had already paid the large non-refundable community fee as well. To be fa

This community has been a good fit for our parents. The staff is courteous and helpful. They are making an effort to see that all needs are met. Enjoy the interaction with the other residents. They make us feel part of the community when we visit.

We were disappointed in this community when walking in the front door. There were alot of people wandering right around the front door. We found the housekeeping somewhat lacking. I asked one of the ladies in the dining room how she liked the food and she advised she didn't like the food here.

My dad is a resident of Wynwood. We choose it because everyone says it is a good place to go and it is about a mile or a mile and a half from his wife's home so it is very convenient. The people are relatively friendly. However, they are understaffed. My dad has difficulty walking and they are supposed to walk him up and down the hall every day to strengthen his muscles. But that did happened it was his wife who was the one who ended up walking him up the hallway. They are also not doing hi

We walked in at Wynwood and it felt right. It was very welcoming. We knew that it was a good place to have my grandma. It was a 1-bedroom but it was a great size; it was facing over the yard. She would have been very comfortable. We didn't eat but we did go in when they were serving a meal and it looked appetizing. The people were caring, great and easy to work with. They were very helpful and willing to answer any questions we had and very considerate of us as a family. The director was v

What we liked is that it enables my dad to socialize with people and the staff is friednly and I think the food is relatively good, I haven't tasted it -my dad says it's just food- but they seem to pay attention to his diabetic needs. I think that more staff would help, it's a problem that prevents them from cleaning as well as they should and sometimes the forget to pick up his laundry so sometimes he has 2 weeks of laundry, but they're always really good if they've forgotten to pick it up an

We chose to have Wynwood of Yakima for my dad who has Alzheimer's. He's been in Wynwood for a month now, and as what I am seeing every time I visit him, I must say he's looking good and well taken cared by all the loving and caring staff. He's happy being in the place and he's telling me stories that he already gained friends, and we are really happy about that. I remember my dad has mentioned on many occasions how happy he is at Wynwood and he feels it's the perfec

The home had a very pleasant entrance that made you feel at home and at ease. The rooms were very basic, but nice. When I say basic I mean they have what a person will need and not overly fancy. They had small kitchenettes, bathroom and some with an open living/sleeping area and other a seperate sleeping room. There was staff 24 hrs a day and nurses on hand if needed. They also provided other services if needed such as portable EKGs and xrays from NW Mobile where they come to you and the re
