Caring Staff, Rising Concerns

Cogir of Bothell (formerly Sunrise) earns praise for its caring, patient staff who treat memory care residents with dignity and respect. Families consistently note the cleanliness, engaging activities, and responsive communication. However, concerns include one serious allegation of medical neglect involving an untreated foot infection, inconsistent personal care (shower frequency, handling accidents), rising costs that may be unsustainable for average families, and operational disruptions during an ownership change that created communication and medication issues.

Jenn was amazing! We did a tour with her to understand the next steps for my loved one, and she was so helpful.. professional.. and kind. It’s hard to find people with bedside manner that are so genuine and thoughtful. I would feel very comfortable having my relative stay here with the information she has given me.

I’m absolutely so grateful for this community and how much they have helped my Dad transition into memory care. We had looked at multiple places but found that Jennifer was the most professional from tour to move in. She answered questions we didn’t even know we would have! The care staff is great and you can tell they really care about the residents.

When our family received my dad’s diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia, we were completely unprepared. His condition surfaced suddenly in an emergency situation and took us all by surprise. I stepped into the role of primary caregiver with no prior experience, and after four intense months, it became clear that both my dad and I were overwhelmed. We knew he needed the specialized support of a professional memory care community, but finding the right place felt nearly impossible. He was living in a st

I visited my dear friend who lives here, and she is truly happy to be part of this community. Since moving from living alone, I’ve noticed her mood has improved and she seems much less lonely. I’m very grateful to the staff for taking such good care of my friend.

At Cogir they staff was very friendly and helpful, willing to work with you to make the transition easier. They have many activities for the residents and engage as much as possible. I was not impressed with the food the day I had lunch there, hopefully they have a new chef. My husband was there for a two week respite while I went on a cruise. He was happy enough there and I felt he was well cared for.

It is for memory individuals only, many activities and very nice, caring people that work there. I would definitely recommend to others. Also staff is very patient with residents and are effort to get residents involved with activities.

Cogir of Bothell staff is taking great care of my mother-in-law. They are always responsive to concerns, and any time I follow up on something, it has already been handled. The community feel along with the caring staff makes all the difference.

Their Community Relations Director, [name removed]is a gifted caregiver & liaison professional. She flew to Montana to retrieve our father without incident or fear on his part. She is a natural in all interpersonal skills, an amazing woman our family will never forget. Their day and overnight staff are tirelessly caring and were willing to answer my questions about my father's condition, demeanor and outlook, helping me care for him WITH them.

We toured several places but nothing came close to Cogir of Bothell for memory care. We like that it doesn’t feel like a hospital and everyone working there has been caring and supportive with a positive attitude. When going through something like memory loss, it’s hard to make the best of a difficult situation, yet somehow Cogir manages to do so seamlessly.

Staff are friendly, patient and kind from the receptionist to nutrition services and daily care staff. Nursing care is thorough and attentive. Meals are tasty nutritious and there is good variety. Expect a charge for tray delivery if resident won't go to the dining room. We are renting both sides of a double room so there is ample space to set up a comfortable home environment. A bonus is the kitchenette with mini fridge, sink, room for a coffee maker, and generous closet space. We are working

There are several better and more expensive locations one can consider. What they have is very adequate at Cogir and the staff does their best with the resources they have. The value and location are good and the staff has addressed most of my concerns.

I felt my husband was well cared for. It was for 2 weeks respite care. Yes I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we had with Cogir of Bothell review

My mother was there 19 months. I was great in the beginning. Last month I visited and she had gotten an infection on her feet. They treated it with neosporin. My mom only knew that it hurt. I'm glad I found it. I took her to ER and ER said she had gangrene and cellulitis. The director Laurel, lied to my family multiple times. Every person I have shown the picture of my mother's foot has gasped and said, "I hope you are suing them for neglect!"

I would rate them a 5 on each category. It was a safe, caring, kind, friendly place. I am so grateful for the kindness shown by the caregivers at Cogir of Bothell. They always kept their spirits up even when some residents were being difficult. They were quick to respond when a resident needed extra care. I can't thank them enough for all they did for my husband.

I have found the staff to be friendly and attentive to the needs of my father. 1 person per room. 2 rooms per apartment. Space is adequate. One shared bathroom can be a problem. I would also like to say my dad for the most part enjoys his living arrangement

Cogir of Bothell Memory Care seemed quite nice, very clean, and modern. It seemed like a very nice facility. They did not take my mother-in-law's long-term care insurance though, so they were out for us. The staff I met was great. They had a nice courtyard for the clients to go out and enjoy the sunshine and stuff. So it was quite nice.

Facility is very clean. No awkward odors. Spotless. EXTREMELY involved/caring staff. The activities director has taken my mother in law under her wing and is exceptionally patient and loving with her. Treats her like family. Perfect room. A bit on the small side, but they don't want them in their rooms too much. Constant events/activities offered. Very thoughtful. Just disappointed the price has gone up about 4 times in the last two years.

Would highly recommend but it's pricey maybe not sustainable over time for avg person.

Everyone is so nice and friendly at Cogir of Bothell. I was greeted as I walked through the community. Several residents were out and about busy having fun. The community looked very clean. Love this place!

I e been to this community many times and am always impressed with the care team and nursing staff. They are ready for anything and anticipate the unexpected. The Activity Team always brings their A game and the residents are always happy and engaged. I would always recommend this community

I think the staff I have met does a really nice job of interacting with the patients and allows them to keep their dignity despite their memory loss/ dementia The level of furnishings the obvious class and expense of the physical environment to appeal to a client who came firm a higher income bracket. The fact that each room Had access to a shower and not a general shower for all. The common areas were bright with natural light The activity that was planned for the residents.

I would rate Cogir of Bothell as a 5 for each category. The facility feels homey, it's comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and open to talking to you about any issues/concerns you might have. It's clear they don't do this for the money and care about the residents.

Jason March 26, 2024

Very friendly and attentive to residents needs. Great activities and staff.

We toured Cogir of Bothell during our search for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. This facility seemed very good and they had a lot to offer. However, my loved one would not have liked the small outdoor areas.

I would rate all 7categories as a 5. In addition to being friendly, it's evident that all the staff - regardless role - care about the residents. They also take the time to stay in touch and let us know how [name removed] is doing. The management and supervisors are very supportive and up front with what's going on in the facility and with [name removed]. It's clear that everyone there are dedicated to providing memory care for the residents.

They have great activities, community and great staff. We picked this community, because of the activities and community, and engagement. The interaction with the staff was excellent.

The staff here are very respectful with the memory care patients They offer lots of activities and there is encouragement by the staff to participate. The facility itself is very nice. They have nice size rooms and the bathrooms have showers in them. It is a little pricey.

Cogir of Bothell Memory Care was a nice big building. The staff was very friendly. They had pet therapy for the residents. They had private rooms. So, you could have your own room or shared room. The shared room had a wall in between so you still had your own bedroom, but shared bathroom. The facilities were clean and very nice. The prices were very reasonable.

Katie GDecember 5, 2022

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I like that the environments is very bright and cheery. Everyone has been so friendly. They have been making improvements to the facility and I think it's great they are doing that for their residents.

When my loved one moved into Cogir it was a difficult transition for them. The community did a really good job at getting to know our loved one and assisting with acclimating my loved one into the community. They were able to assist my loved one with their in house doctor. The staff were patient and understanding with our loved one. The community really kept in touch and really figured out where my loved one would fit in best and keeping them calm. There is a calendar of all the meals that

We picked this community because, it was smaller community, obviously they were a caring staff and location. I couldn't be happier - she is taking her meals in the dining room, getting her meds on time and with food. I love it and so does my loved one.

Judith September 19, 2022

The friendliness of the staff just stood out to us right away, and what really reassured us is that they have staff members available around the clock. Our loved one does not participate in many activities but from what we have seen and what we does do he enjoys. Everyone has just been so nice since our loved one moved on. Compared to other communities in the area Cogir of Bothell's value is marvelous they just offer so many things. We would recommend this community to other families.

This was our 2nd choice. The location was close to family, and they were willing to find a room for our loved one. The location is across the street from a fire station.

I was very overwhelmed at the entire process moving my dad into senior living. from the first tour to move in, I was welcomed and we were treated with great respect. dad loves the activities and the staff a lot. I believe this is a great place for seniors to age. Mill Creek is lucky to have Cogir.

My wife and I moved in about 3 weeks. During this time we have found all the staff to e very friendly and helpful. The kitchen staff work very hard to see to it that we get excellent food served to order, The weekly menu that is put out gives us something to look forward to all week. We are very happy here and well taken of.

anonymous October 18, 2021

They sold 2 weeks after she moved in which caused a bunch of changes and it turned out not to be a good fit. Communication was a problem, I ended up having to work with the director with our issues. We had a medication mishap right when we moved in. They failed to check on her as often as she needed to be which was every 2 hours. Her room ended up flooding and she had to move out and that caused a lot of problems in itself. It was not the best experience for us at the time, but it may be the rig

If you're reading this, I'm sorry your family is going through this. The Cogir is good. They work with you and help you go through it all. The care they provide is good, and my loved one is happy there. They keep things very clean, and I don't notice any unpleasant smells. I've been really happy with cleanliness.

I like Cogir of Bothell. It felt more open, even though it was safe and enclosed. It didn't give me that clinical feeling as it did in the other community. I like that my mom could just go out any time because it's secure. It felt open and friendly and the staff was attentive. I had a good feeling about that place. The person who gave me the tour seems very friendly and caring. The sense I get from just about everybody that I've seen is that they care about the people they're

Sunrise of Bothell has become my extended family. They have been amazing at helping my mother acclimate to her new surroundings this past month and they’ve done it with care and understanding. They always answer the dozens of questions I have for them and always say to call any time. Everyone is friendly and kind and are great listeners. Their activities are both plentiful and well rounded. I deeply appreciate the work they do to keep my mother and all residents there safe and happy. I don’t kno

My father, who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, lived at Sunrise of Bothell for the last 18 months of his life. I am so thankful that we found this community. Everyone at this facility, and I mean everyone, was kind, caring, and professional. Caring for those with advanced dementia is a tough job, but the staff at Sunrise of Bothell really excels at providing a safe, loving, and upbeat atmosphere. Not only could I tell how content my father was, but I also enjoyed visiting because the entire s

My mom has only been living here now for just two weeks but I can not believe the transformation. She is like a new person. Before coming her she was living alone and I believe she slowly began to slip into isolation and therefore dementia flourished. At Sunrise they engage the residents constantly. After just a few minutes of observation you can tell that all of the staff really care for the residents and have been professionally trained on how to treat them. They also produce a monthly cale
