Aljoya is a lovely community with many varied activities for residents, such as exercise classes, Current Event presentations, concerts, art classes, and more. It is within walking distance to Luther Burbank Park, as well as grocery stores, Starbucks and many restaurants. Our apartment is bright, the rooms are spacious, and the staff is very responsive and knowledgeable. We love not having to cook if we don't feel like it, and the food is good!

I have lived here only a month but already feel at home. It is a warm community with friendly residents and caring and helpful staff. There are more activities - exercise, education, entertainment - than I can fit into my schedule. My 1-bedroom apartment seemed small before I moved in, but it is full of light and comfortable. Meals are tasty and portions generous.

I chose this facility for its convenient location (short distance to stores and restaurants), nearby greenspace and gardens, friendly staff and residents, and plethora of activities. It's been two years since I moved-in and I have made many new friends. It feels like a small town community. Not having to worry about making my bed or cooking is a blessing. The available medical staff is friendly and competent. I know when the time comes when I need Assisted Living help, I will be well taken

Our apartment is excellent. Well maintained, clean with great light.

While all independent living and assisted living facilities may offer a very presentable space, amenities, and services, there are a number of major issues to answer first. Location (including transportation access, trails and walking areas and walking to shopping) is of primarily importance; food quality with options, and variety are very, very important' and housekeeping follows. The friendliness of staff and their ability to accommodate your requests in a positive way also has to be cons

We selected Aljoya for walkability of area (By Village), light rail out back gate, room can be made assisted living therefore not requiring move, payment plan, interesting residents, quality food, friendly staff., size units, garden and activities provided. It is easy to drive to the area because of location. If you are looking in the Seattle area, Aljoya is a great benchmark for other facilities. Refundable deposit puts you on waiting list and you move up to when the unit you want is available,

We went to look at Aljoya Mercer Island. We like the walkability. The Starbucks is behind you, and we lived on Mercer Island for 40 years, as did one of our daughters, so it's a community we know. The director showed us different parts of the building, like the dining room. They only have like 118 units. I think they take way too good care of people. We saw a room that they had arranged for us to see. They have a wide amount of square footage, from one bedroom to two and three bedrooms. The

The facility itself is wonderful but I don't know what happened to the restaurant Lilly's. We went down for breakfast and were the only people in the place, when we got our food everything was cold and overcooked, half of the items on the thing we ordered weren't there. To tell you the truth it was the worst breakfast I've ever experienced.

This tour revealed a well thought out facility and approach to the residents. The decor was lovely, staff called one another and the residents by their first names, and safety protocols were consistently in place. Residents are given a voice in running the facility and have many opportunities to create activities within and about the area. I rate this living opportunity very high.

I was told by my friend, a resident at Aljola, before arriving to visit him to proceed to the desk to ask for him. I did just that, and after calling the attendent left a message and hung up. I was then told to register myself as a visitor at the machine on a ledge on the opposite wall. After doing that I sat down at the circular seat in the entrance way. Nothing else happened though I was fully visible from the desk. A second person returned from a break or errand. They chatted, both saw me but

We toured Aljoya Mercer Island. It's right in downtown Mercer Island, which is a small community, and it seems like it would be easy for older people to walk around and get to places. We saw an exercise class that had just ended. We toured the independent living.

This is a wonderful home for seniors located in a very safe place for one who loves to walk as I do. There are many activities, music, trips, talks, etc, I think it is so much better than being in a house that can become so lonesome.

We looked at Aljoya, but my mom did not qualify for it. I think it was a lovely place for people who have the money and are living pretty independently on their own. It was a wonderful community.

My mother lived at Aljoya for over 3 years. The staff and the entire environment were great. It was a very classy and well kept up spot to live at. The staff knew everyone’s name, including mine. I would highly recommend Aljoya. The food was very nice, there was a pool and Jacuzzi to use as well. The parking was very easy.

My parents came to Aljoyah when it first opened. It has been an amazing experience for our entire family. Aljoyah has become their home. As children, we are so very grateful for all the staff - who have treated my parents like family. The love, care, attention and standards of excellence have made Aljoyah a safe, welcoming and joyful place to live. As a child who lives many states away, I know at any time I can call one of the primary staff for questions, support, processing and updates on

My wife and I moved into Aljoya five years ago. We have no regrets. We love the staff - they are friendly and very accommodating The administration is very open to suggestions and criticisms and hold open houses monthly to receive suggestions, many of which have been implemented. The gardens and lounges are always beautifully maintained and the food is excellent. We have weekly housekeeping ( including changing of bed linens) which we appreciate very much We did have some food issues in the e

Aljoya is an exceptional retirement community on Mercer Island. It is a beautiful place with all the bells and whistles you would expect at a top notch facility. The staff is very caring and the residents seem to be happy living there. My parents recently moved in and they are enjoying meeting all of the residents and participating in the activities. It is comforting to know that they are being well cared for as they age in a beautiful atmosphere. We are lucky to have such a fabulous place

First and foremost, Aljoya is a community, one in which residents enjoy and genuinely care about one another. The staff is equally responsive and extremely pleasant. The rich array of excursions and presentations offered to residents ensures a vibrant lifestyle for all. Aljoya's beautiful, lush gardens are a joy to behold, dining at Lilley's is, much more often than not, an exceptional/delicious treat! Facility maintenance is superb. After my mom passed away several years ago, my dad grew more and more isolated living alone in their home. When we'd visit, he'd take us to Lilly's for breakfast and show off all of the amenities that Aljoya had to offer, and would introduce us to the friendly staff who always greeted him so warmly. We could tell he wanted to live there, and he just needed a little help figuring out how to make it happen, which we ultimately did. He joined the community just in time. For the first year he

Moving to Aljoya over two years ago was one of the top three life changing decisions I have made for myself during my lifetime. Once again I nailed my big decision. Never did I dream I could be so happy living in a retirement home. We have all heard about the interesting, accomplished people you meet who are living in retirement homes but one seldom hears about the staff. Here at Aljoya we have a staff who all take the time and effort to be sure the residents are well served. They are s

My husband and I have been at Aljoya Mercer Island for a little over an year and we enjoy it very much! No more lawn mowing, cooking for dinner, figure out repairs etc. Being gluten intolerant (Celiac) is not easy but Chef Jonathan with his crew keeps me from having gluten reactions. Our kitchen prepares dinners that we all can eat. The menu with Healthy Choices, Daily Specials and lots of other choices is quite divers. We get 25 dinners included in our monthly dues. We have daily exercise cla

Aljoya on Mercer Island is a beautiful facility located in the heart of town, especially convenient for seniors who like to walk to nearby shops, parks, and the waterfront. Our own restaurant and coffee area provide good service and opportunity for association with other residents and visitors, a welcome alternative to the lonesomeness that so often comes with aging. There is opportunity for singing, games, including boccie, swimming, exercise, and trips, It is great to not have to worry abou

I have lived in Aljoya Mercer Island since it opened in September, 2008. I moved here from Boston because one of my sons lives with his family on the Island. In my opinion, there are three criteria to consider in choosing a Senior Living Residence (SLR). The first is the physical aspects of the building containing the resident apartments and the associated amenities, such as the dining area, pool, theatre, conference rooms, garage, etc. The second are the rules and regulations that determine th

I am glad to share the incredible joy the Mercer Island Aljoya family gave me, my father, and my brother and sister during the last year and a half of his life. My father passed away peacefully in his Aljoya residence on August 31st, with his family by his bedside. He was 84 years old. About two years earlier we had become very worried about his health and safety. He was living alone in his home of thirty years. He was afflicted with Parkinson's disease, and had fallen several times. His abili
