Reviews for Brookdale Admiral Heights

Caring Staff, Aging Building

Brookdale Admiral Heights is praised overwhelmingly for its caring, attentive staff who know residents by name and respond quickly to needs. Families consistently highlight strong activities programming, excellent COVID-19 safety protocols, and a convenient walkable location near shops and restaurants. However, several reviewers note the building feels dated or cluttered, apartments are small, and food quality is repetitive and institutional after the initial weeks.

My mom moved into Brookdale Admiral Heights after leaving her home and a 6-month residency at a retirement community in Florida. Because she is in the mild to moderate stage of dementia, and she was leaving family and friends behind, it was a stressful transition. From the moment she arrived at the community, and even beforehand by providing me with information and guidance, the staff has been fantastic. My mom feels very safe there. She is engaged with the community. She likes the food. The car

I found our tour with Brookdale Admiral Heights to be very poor compared to others that we saw. It was below our expectations.

This community is okay but it was to far away from my daughter and I wanted a more modern feeling environment. They gave a good tour with lots of information.

We chose Brookdale because we loved the staff immediately, the location was convenient, and also because of the amenities that they offered. They also had a much better care program and are more hands on since they are a smaller community. He has a studio apartment, and it is a good size. I like how personable everyone is here, they truly care about their residents as well as the families. They know all residents by name, they know their medications by heart, and everyone just seems very aware o

The Sisters of Providence needed our support during COVID and provided a lovely letter of thanks.

I am so glad we found this place for my 98 year-old father to live. He has been there four years now, and they have taken great care of him. Their Covid protocols have been excellent, and have kept him safe. I highly recommend Admiral Heights if you are looking for a caring place for a loved one who needs assistance.

My mom lived at Brookdale Admiral Heights for almost four years, and she loved it. She especially loved the social activities and was hardly ever in her apartment except to sleep, until COVID hit. During COVID, the staff did an excellent job keeping the residents safe. The reason we moved my mom recently was due to advanced dementia and other medical issues. I would especially like to give a shout-out to the very kind, friendly and helpful staff.

Brookdale Admiral Heights has been a wonderful community for my mom. The team is fully attuned to her needs and treats us with kindness and compassion, the living quarters are comfortable, the activities are FANTASTIC - between karaoke, puzzles with friends, storytelling, movie night, daily exercise class, brunch bus, book club, and now the garden club - she is never bored! Thank you to the whole team for enhancing my mom’s life, and mine. The executive director - and all team members - are ful

The Vik Family requested help posting this review and when our families ask for help we all jump in! Here is the review: Hello Dawn and Brookdale staff, Hopefully we are now seeing the light as the end of the tunnel of the Corona virus. We wanted you folks (caregivers, administrators, staff, nurses and home healthcare workers) to know how well we think you did in keeping the virus in check. Your facility stands out in so many ways and we're so glad mom is there. She mentions the good meals, the

I visited Brookdale Admiral Heights. The people were wonderful, very friendly, loving, and very personable. The facility was fantastic. It has a garden patio that you can go out on, and it's a nice outdoor space. The food was wonderful.

My mom moved in to Brookdale Admiral Heights in January 2020, just before Covid hit. We had looked at a number of different assisted living facilities, where my mom could "age in place", and receive increasing care as needed. My mom's review: "I love it here. This is my home. ALL the staff are so caring and kind- all of them. I could have moved in with my daughter or son during covid, but I chose to stay here. Now that the restrictions are loosened, I am enjoying activities again, but of

My 97 yo mom has been living at Brookdale Admiral Heights for just over 2 years. The first shout out is to all the folks there that worked so hard to keep the residents safe during the pandemic. It is an amazing feat that they were able to keep the residents healthy and w/o any outbreaks. Additionally, when the vaccines were made available, they quickly got the community immunized. This speaks volume about their dedication. Prior to the outbreak, Brookdale has consistently taken good care of

My mom moved into assisted living at Brookdale Admiral Heights. The appearance is nice. The staff is generally pretty good and clean, and they take good care of her. The food is pretty good. They have a lot of activities and my mom enjoys the music on Tuesday afternoons.

Brookdale Admiral Heights was great. I like the neighborhood. The place itself was comfortable. Everything was very clean. I looked at two apartments. The studio apartment seemed very small, but the 1-bedroom was more to the point. I like that one pretty well too. The people were extremely nice. The staff was extremely pleasant. I had lunch there, and their food was delicious. It was beautifully presented but it was sparse. There wasn't quite enough food.

I went on a tour at this community and the man was nice and he answered all of my questions. It was an older building and it looked rundown. They allow the residents to decorate on the outside of their room's but it made it look cluttered. It just didn't seem like a good fit for my mom.

I wasn't impressed with Brookdale Admiral Heights. It reminded me more of a nursing home or a step above a nursing home even though everybody had their own apartments. It was all internal. It was a big building and you go in and then you go up to the different floors to access the different apartments. It was average. The lady that took me on the tour was really nice. I got to that facility around lunchtime, but they didn't offer me lunch or anything. There was a trivia game going whil

Brookdale Admiral Heights was on a really busy street. There weren't any balconies, and there was a small garden, but it wasn’t cared for, so it didn’t look inviting. It was in too busy of an area for my mom to feel comfortable in with too much road noise. The staff was excellent and spent a long time talking to me about everything. I was very impressed.

We have had a few communication issues since mom moved in, however we are working on correcting these issues. The billing is a little confusing and I am working on this with them. The staff are friendly, helpful and respectful of the residents. The food is very good and the community is well maintained. I would suggest looking at various communities to find the one that works for you.

I was and impressed by Brookdale. Admiral Heights. The building is impressive and the people had the kind of care for the Residents that I am looking for. Brookdale Admiral Heights 2326 California Avenue Southwest

The Brookdale Admiral Heights was a beautiful community. Everyone was very nice and all of the residents seemed very happy. The location was perfect, there was a movie theater across the road and stores. The food looked great. The reason we ended up choosing another community was because the apartments were so small, smaller than a college kid's dorm.

Brookdale Admiral Heights was fine, and we liked the Admiral Way district. There's plenty of stuff around, but it was more expensive than the other two places we visited.

Terri43June 10, 2016

I was surprised that Brookdale Admiral Heights was pricey for an older building. The units were small and had not been updated. The positive thing about it, according to the marketing person, was you could come down and order off the menu 24 hours a day. They didn't have a fixed time for eating like most places in their dining room. The building and dining room were small. Every community space was tiny, but they're in the process of updating units as people move out or pass away. It i

I felt that Brookdale Admiral Heights went out of their way to both facilitate my dad's ability to make a choice and to help get him settled in once he chose to go there. It was not without difficulty either, since I was managing the process from over a thousand miles away and there were a number of issues that had to be overcome initially and will continue needing resolution going forward. I am very comfortable saying that I fully expect them to be helpful going forward.

The rooms are OK at Brookdal Admiral Heights. The marketer that we spoke to was very pleasant, but the place didn’t smell good and looked grungy. We didn’t like it. I would not recommend them. They need to clean the place and make it smell good.

I think they have done everything very well and I could not possibly comment on anything that they could improve upon. She is happy there. The staff is friendly, the place is clean and they staff greets you by name.

The main thing I have been impressed with is the consistency of care. My mother has been there for about two months. There is a family member up there almost every other day, and not a one of us has seen a thing that would raise a concern about the quality of care or anything else. All places have some areas that they are good at, or seem really good at first, but this place has had really good quality of care consistently.

Emeritus at Admiral Heights was a beautiful place, and everybody was wonderful. The dining room was great, and there was nothing absolutely wrong that we could see with that place. But it was a very long drive for us, and that was the only thing but we eliminated that. The rooms and apartments were beautiful and spacious. The restaurant looked nice, and everybody seemed very happy there. The lady did mention a lot of things that they have, and it was a retirement assisted living combination. Th

The nurses were quite diligent. Mom came through the experience alive, which we are very grateful and something you could never put a price on. They even got mom to participate in some sort of balloon volleyball game which she loved. Lots of great community interaction. Everything was just done in such an understanding way. They truly understand the needs of these elders. Emeritus really has a heart for these older folks.

Beautiful setting. Very good visit with the staff. Apt very nice with lost of light. Clean and impressive.

I really like the location - very ideal. It is on a level sidewalk so that the residents could get out and go the grocery store or a movie. Prime location for people who want to be able to do things on their own. The staff were nice, my father was a very difficult resident and they dealt with him the best that they could. They had a lot of activities. The only complaint is the food. He hated the food - it was OK the first two weeks, but after that very boring. A lot of people would leave and get

I have toured this before- used to live on Alki & looked into this as an option for her. Yes, it is nice. No, not really interested. Too busy of an area & parking sucks. Drive is difficult from where i live now.

I visit this facility regularly, as my client has weekly hair appointments here. I am always impressed. The lobby is beautiful and clean, and there are often musical performances in the afternoons. There are a multitude of things to do, whether it's visiting the casino, learning to use Facebook, or playing Wii Golf. The staff knows my client by name, even though she isn't a resident. I would not worry about my client's welfare if she chose to live at this facility.
