Reviews for Village Green Senior Living of West Seattle
Warm Staff, Maintenance Concerns
Village Green (formerly Daystar) earns consistent praise for its warm, family-like atmosphere and caring staff who know residents by name and provide dedicated support. However, serious concerns emerge around medical staffing competency, facility maintenance (older building with ant infestations reported), and inconsistent communication, with some families experiencing care mismatches and unreturned calls. The convenient West Seattle location near shopping appeals to many, though experiences vary significantly depending on care level needs.
If I can describe Village Green in West Seattle and its employees in one word it would be, FAMILY. Our father hesitated to sell and move out of his home that he built and was in for forty plus years. He was in his late 70’s and was very independent in his day to day function. We convinced him to move into the Village Green’s (then called Day Star) 55yo and over apartments (bldg #1). Once there, he loved the secured building and its proximity (across the street) to the bank, Starbucks, grocery s
I would recommend they provide an onboarding document explaining how everything works, you kind of learn as you go. I also heard from my sister that the charges for medications if they manage resupply is more than what we pay through Kaiser so we just manage the resupply ourselves.
There is a massive ant infestation. They kicked my mom off of the assisted living program because they were unable to manage her diabetes. they made excuses for why the medical examination couldn't be scheduled before she moved in. Seemed like they wanted to get the community fee secured and didn't care if the examination showed that she wouldn't be a good fit for the assisted living program. Also felt like they advertised much more involvement from the on staff nurse than what was actually av
I would recommend to others. The staff were all friendly and supportive of my dad. He was taken care of and staff made an effort to keep him engaged. Location was a big attraction. My dad grew up in the neighborhood and we felt having him in an area with history would give him plenty to talk about. It was also close to family.
The medical staff are incompetent. I would never recommend Village Green Senior Living West Seattle to anyone.
Lucky for us my mother was able to live at Village Green for the past two years, after the abrupt closing of Vashon Community Care, Vashon Island, WA. She often referred to it as her home. The CNA staff is dedicated, compassionate, and incredible. We would like to sincerely express our appreciation and gratitude for the excellent care my mother received from EVERYONE at Village Green. Village Green was definitely her home. Many thanks to [name removed](Director) and [name removed](Office
5 for everything, you were indispensable. My mother loves it. Based on the experience we have had so far with Village Green Senior Living, we would give a big yes to recommending the community to other families.
My grandmother has lived at the community for 5 years. She moved in as an independent resident and when we noticed she needed some additional assistance, she was able to receive Assistance in her current apartment. The staff are always so friendly and they greet us by our names when we come to visit. They always have a kind story to share about grandma. Village Green management is always there to talk with us. Grandma absolutely loves that she can wash her own clothes inside of her apartmen
When Mom and I toured Daystar we were both drawn to the warmth of the community. Daystar has been vigilant about COVID protocols which I am ever thankful for. While lockdowns have been hard to get through, they have kept Mom safe. Daystar is an older facility that is in need of maintenance and updates. A few updates like new carpet and flooring have been made in my mom’s apartment. Chipped laminate countertops need updating. It would be great if they could upgrade the cable TV boxes. Mom enj
they do an excellent job , very caring could use some more staff but the whole industry is having the same problem but they seem to make it work and care is top rate
This community is okay but it was to far away from my daughter and I wanted a more modern feeling environment. They gave a good tour with lots of information.
Our mom has been at Daystar for several years now. She loves the size of the place, the people are all so nice, and there is a warm feeling about the place. My sister and I have found the staff friendly and so helpful. Eva, Melodee and Corinne...we love you!
I have a relative that has been living here. What I've discovered is that the people determine the success of a retirement home. Boy, does Daystar have the best staff! Eva, the Executive Director, is one of the kindest, most caring people I know. She always tries to help, has a terrific relationship with my rellie, and is always available if I need a word. Melodee on the Front Desk is equally helpful, upbeat and loving. This is a special place!
Looking beautiful and I was thinking about moving forward, hopefully may be able to consider in future. Circumstances are changing quickly
I like that I was able to move into this community. The staff have been very kind and caring to my needs. They allow me to cook for myself and they offer a variety of meals. I like that knowing that I can participate in the activities when possible. I would recommend this nice community for families for a good place to call home with a good value
It seemed like a clean community when touring. I noticed there was a lot more older residents. It was okay for me. There was a feel that I was not comfortable with and I was trying to get lower expenses. I liked the lady who gave me the tour, she was very nice. This was not the community for us.
Friendliest staff, unexpected extra attention. Very pleased with all aspects of this warm and welcoming "village". Extra effort seems to be generated at every opportunity. Most rooms have a lovely, private, sylvan setting. The gardens are exquisite and tended regularly.
I have a friend there an she has gone downhill ever since..They don't have someone 24/7 she called her lifeline took 45 min. she needs more than they can give even though they say they have a nursing staff. Now looking for somewhere else to put her. Every time I call to get information the person is always out..they take messages only..an never call back. For the money they charge, Oh getting mail cost to be delivered if you can 't pick up your own.
I like the location near shopping and bus lines. However, I found the place a little depressing. I may have to give it another look later on.
My loved one was here before. It wasn't as clean, as the new place is. They sure did a lot more with socialization though. They are good about getting people to meet each other, and helping get conversations started. They call everyone by their first name and it's easier for people to get to know each other.
I toured the facility for a family member, and found it to be one of the best in West Seattle, unfortunately my family member required more assistance than what was offered. The place was clean, and well kept. A major plus were the washers and driers in every unit. The staff were all friendly, and it felt like they wanted to help, not just a job. The building is a little old, but was well maintained for the age. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the young lady who toured me and
My parents are settled in now after a month and a half. There are a lot of activities for them to participate in. The food is good, the staff seem to be very friendly. My parents socialize with the other residents. I'm not worried about their well being anymore because I know they are in good hands.
I LOVE this location --- and I drive past here everyday. It looks super nice!
