My 99 Year Old Mom and I were looking for an Ideal community and Found it in Truewood by Merrill Gardens in First Hill Seattle. Many of the staff members have worked there 10+ years. Mom is treated warmly and with respect. Her Studio is Bright and full of light from large windows facing east. It has the nicest dining room I've seen in an independent/assisted living facility, view and the light on the buildings at sunset is beautiful. Additionally the manager is very involved with the residents.. The two decks off the dining room are great and really let a lot of light into the dining room itself. Also my mom has a great city

I toured the building back in September and initially tried to let my experience go, but it continued to bother me for months, which is why I feel compelled to share it now. My opinion is based only on our interactions through the move in process. Unfortunately, my mother passed the day before she was to move in. Generally yes we had a good impression of the community. She didn't want to leave her condo but she realized living alone was no longer an option. Merrill Gardens was in her neighborhood and they were very welcoming so she was open to the idea and received a good impression from everyone there.

Truewood by Merrill, First Hill is a one of a kind gem. The staff and residents have created a warm, welcoming, and inclusive home. The location is peaceful. The surrounding streets are lined with establishes trees providing shade and a beautiful fall display of color. It's a very walkable neighborhood. The building is clean, and comfortable with views of the Seattle skyline. The culinary team prepares world class meals fit for the most discerning palate. This community is a fantastic value.

Everything is great! We love it. Many of the faculty have been there for over 20 years. Staff are friendly and seem happy to work there.

I have lived here for six years. I'm in independent living and enjoy the staff and the other residents that live here. The food is great with lots of variety. It's clean, well-maintained and the staff is very responsive.

Price and location. Family member needed to be close but not too close. View is amazing. Price and options for advanced care. Definitely a recommendation

It was a relief to find Truewood at First Hill. Who knew? It’s a little hidden gem right in the most chic, touristy part of downtown! A Place for Mom really helped and in 1 day lined up 4-5 senior homes with appointments for tours for us the following day! We landed here as the 4th of 5 places lined up to visit. Once we arrived at Truewood by Merril, First Hill—met the staff, residents and execs, we were hooked, cancelled the next place we were supposed to see and signed the contract that night.

We only toured 3 or 4 facilities and all most were lovely but Merrill Gardens had a vibrancy that wasn't present at the other facilities. I think my mom would have enjoyed living with these people. Unfortunately my mom passed away before she could move in.

I like that they have parking there and based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend Truewood by Merrill to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.

My loved one is a resident at Truewood by Merrill First Hill and everything is working out for him and has been good.

It's been a wonderful place for my mom. Try to negotiate on the non returnable deposit if needed because of your situation or finances. The staff has been great and has very little turn over. Also the rooms are really nice. Great views. Lots of activities and staff to drive residents to appts and such. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a safe, clean, and amazing staff.

Overall, my family and loved one had a good experience at Truewood by Merrill First Hill. As care levels go up there are additional charges. The staff is amazing and friendly to work with. The dining room is nice and staff in the dining room are great! The food could use some improvement.

Truewood by Merrill (First Hill) is a small community so residents are able to see familiar faces regularly. The staff are caring and knowledgeable about how my mother-in-law is doing, when asked. The food is sometimes NOT great, but this is over come by the other positive factors.

At Truewood, everyone knows everyone's name. It's really just a warm, almost family-like environment. The staff have been super welcoming and very supportive. The care has been great. It takes a little bit of adjustment in the beginning, but now that my person is settled in, it has been great. They're very attentive to her, and they reach out to me when they have questions. It's a great value as well --unbeatable compared to the other places I looked into in the area.

The value for the money is good. We picked this community because, it's close to our home, we felt very welcomed, and the staff was really nice. My loved one felt really good about it, and it felt like home. It was also affordable. I would recommend to other families.

Our loved one absolutely loves it there, she says the food is good and has a nice variety. She is really enjoying the activities especially when they take trips. The staff members are super nice and a big deal for us and her is that on the weekends family members can stay over night and visit.

This is our first experience but we are happy with the community and it has been a good experience. They have activities like bus trips, singing sessions, bingo and more for the residents to do to stay busy.

Being a brand new resident in a unique time, with the lock down taking place a couple weeks after moving in due to the pandemic was handled well. The communication with the family was great. They kept the residents safe. I would highly recommend this community to anyone. I want to live there if the time comes.

We needed to find a place where our loved one fits in and would have everything he needs. Truewood is that place, the staff in the beginning were very communicative without being to pushy or trying to sell us on anything. Everyone who we met with were just very professional and chill. The value for cost is also reasonable.

We think the food is really good, we also think the size of the community is good. The rooms are pretty standard they are a little small. We we would recommend the Merrill Gardens community to others.

It is a wonderful place for activities and has really nice apartments but when your loved one needs more care and their are not equipped for that level and of become problematic for me. I chose this community because I thought is was very homey and had a warm feeling. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It a great place for high functioning seniors.

Although I think they do a great job with both assisted and memory, I don't like the strict separation between the two levels of care. Mom isn't quite at the level or need of their memory care but she needs more help than their assisted offers

The move in went very well and I am changing apartments to a larger one. I am happy with everything from the meals to the residents. There is diversity here with a good atmosphere. I like that they have indoor parking, it will make a difference when the weather changes.

The tour I had here showed me that the staff are engaged and concerned about their residents. They were professional and helpful. I was well organized.

I really loved this facility. I actually put down a refundable deposit to hold an apt. They are not sure if Wayne is assisted living or memory care. They do not have an memory care rooms open now but do have them in new Ballard location which is not ideal but could work. I gave them the go ahead for an assessment of Wayne so they can figure out monthly costs.

The staff we met during our tour were lovely. We like this community, however they would have wanted mom to be in the memory care unit and she was not ready for this move. The community seemed clean. We did not like the layout of the room we were shown. They had a more restrictive food plan compared to the community we chose which has a more open dining policy.

This community is clean and maintained. The care and safety is here always. My mom likes the meals provided, it is tasty and good quality. She also likes to go on scenic drives and other activities offered here. I would recommend this community to family and friends.

Mom lives in the independent living area of this community. She gets along with the entire staff and Patrick the activities director is lovely. She has had a few minor issues with communication with a few of the wait staff but they are working in improving this. The community is clean and they keep it sterilized. This is a smaller community and the food is good. I would recommend this community.

My dad was at this community for about a month before he had to go into the hospital. Once he improves he will be going back to his apartment. The food is fine and I would give it a 4. I am not able to speak about the activities as he is in the memory care unit and I am not sure what they offer. The community is clean and well maintained.

I was not confident with the care of my father while at Merrill Gardens at First Hill. I have since moved him back home. Their food was okay but the food for family members to join them at meals was expensive. I only saw people watching TV, no activities. I would tell others to really consider if they want to put a loved one in a nursing home before doing so.

It really was pretty great. They were really welcoming. The only problem was with the toilet backing up, and I didn't think they cleaned it up very well, but it was just a one time thing and nothing has happened since, so it's better.
